Woodwell Climate Research Center in Falmouth received an $800,000 federal earmark to build a soil carbon lab. Researchers are studying how the 3 billion tons of carbon stored in soil could help fight climate change, support agriculture, and boost biodiversity on Cape Cod. Read more: bit.ly/46E6ZHh

A broad coalition is advancing the Protect Water and Nature Initiative, aiming for the Nov 2026 ballot if lawmakers don’t act. The proposal dedicates existing sales tax revenue on sporting goods—no new taxes—to protect water, land, and access to the outdoors.
