Legitimate question: for a long time whenever US policing was brought up I’d see tons of Europeans say “our police would never do something like this!” Were they just being naïve or have police tactics there changed? (obv lots of generalizing here but do kinda want to know)

A lot of people are being fooled by the UK Greens new “Zionism is Racism” declaration in basically the same way in the States people are fooled by “Make America Healthy Again”. If a bill has a catchy title that seems obviously good you should assume its trying to sell you something nefarious.

Genre of post that mildly annoys me #3028: people assuming that just because something is morally wrong, it will be more profitable. Like “ya a company doing this thing would be bad, but all the execs care about is $ so they’re going to do it anyway”. Sometimes it’s ALSO bad business!

“They mostly capitulated” is stronger terms than I’d personally put it. But I do agree with the sentiment that the actual performance of the democratic party in opposition is fairly immaterial to the win they are about to have handed to them.

The tiny, tiny grain of truth here may be that the past 10~15 years there have been an unusually high amount of big promises and unusually low amount of big returns on drudgery improvement technology, at least in wealthier countries. Which might be this person’s whole life experience.

I’m breaking my “I never post ever” silence to express I’ve never been angrier at a dem politician in my life. I watched direct livestreams of the protest last night for hours and she’s lying through her teeth about the conduct of her officers. Very radicalizing for me.
