He’d dreamed that he and Rey were alone on the prairie, no wagons in sight, but neither of them were afraid or lonely for they were too well occupied with each other. They had lain together in the tall grass, hidden from the world, sunshine in the sky, a cool breeze playing with the wisps of Rey’s hair, violin music coming from far away, and wildflowers in every shade all around them. If they’d spoken of anything, he didn’t remember it when he woke. He only remembered the sensations of touching Rey’s palm, of hearing her laughter and seeing her smiling at him, of the feel of her body underneath his, the slow caress of his fingers on her legs as he drew up her skirt, the heat and dampness at the apex of her thighs that drew him in until he was completely lost.

I've had a tough few days and haven't felt much like writing. But I just spent an hour with Westward Home, and it was such a balm. Sometimes making the art is just as soothing as consuming it. Anyway, here's a little peek at the start of Ch. 4. Oh, those darn sleeping arrangements! #reylo #reyloww

But along with the return to sunshine was the end of Ben’s excuse for needing to sleep next to Rey. With the ground dry again, they had no reason to share a bedroll or sleep pressed up against each other in the confines of their wagon.

As much as Ben knew, though, that sleeping separately was the right thing to do, he couldn’t bring himself to mention it. Neither did Rey. He wondered if she kept silent because she, like him, enjoyed sleeping together or because she simply couldn’t care either way. It was probably the latter, which meant Ben was doing her a disservice by continuing to spread their blankets in one shared pile. But if Rey was content to sleep next to him—whatever her reasons—he couldn’t bear to deny himself the pleasure, no matter how foolish it was.

And it was indeed foolish.

“This round’s on me!” Rather than asking Finn to move, Poe fully stands up on the booth seat and climbs over his boyfriend. Ben winces at the thought of Dameron’s dirty shoes on the—okay, admittedly less than clean—pleather of the pub seats. “Solo, you want anything?”

“Just sparkling water.” Ben tells himself that he doesn’t care if Rey’s friends think he’s boring. “I’m driving Rey home.”

“Awww.” Rose downs the last drops of her … G&T, Ben thinks? But why is it pink? “What do you like drinking, Ben? So we know for game nights.” She flashes him a bright smile that seems wholly genuine.

Ugh. It’s hard not to like Rose Tico. She’s the most welcoming of the bunch and the only one as competitive as Ben about pub trivia.

“Um, red wine? A nice Cab or Bordeaux, not a Pinot.” Though the varietal probably doesn’t matter much if the wine is mediocre to begin with. He should’ve given an answer that won’t doom him to choking down a bottom-shelf California red over debates about Uno rules. Who even fucking plays Uno as an adult, anyway—

Rey snorts. “Tell them what you used to drink.”

“No.” Ben steals one of her salt-and-vinegar crisps, ignoring her pretend-outraged squawk. It turns into more of an (adorable) squeak when his hand slides further up her thigh under the table.

Unfortunately, it’s not distraction enough, especially when Finn leans forward eagerly. “What?”

Ben squeezes Rey’s thigh in warning.

She just smirks at him. Brat. “Vodka Red Bull,” she tells the table.

Rose makes a face. Finn, cementing his place at the top (bottom?) of Ben’s list of Least Favorite People In The Friend Group, says, “Ewwww, man, really?” out loud.

Ben just glares.

"He never got enough sleep. Hence, disgusting energy drinks." Rey combs her fingers through the hair at the nape of his neck, so he can't be upset with her. Not that he really would be anyway.

But, on the other hand, it's fun to pretend. Leaning down just enough to whisper in her ear, he murmurs, "I won't need energy drinks to fuck you into the mattress for making fun of me tonight."

With his hand still on Rey's upper thigh, he can feel her muscles clench.

"Or maybe I should just spank you," he continues, too quietly for anyone else to hear in the rowdy pub. "Until you're ready to apologize for being a brat so I'll let you co—"
