I’m afraid Bluesky hasn’t really taken off for me. I have found hardly any South African commentators or companies and I’m left out of touch here with the zeitgeist of my community. I’ll be sorry to leave the voices I love on here but it’s time to say goodbye! 👋

Candidly, as a civ-mil watcher, this scene at Bragg is freaking me out more than anything else that's happened so far. Just an absolute collapse of professional military norms.

Not only does the Global South exist, it’s also the resurgent collective mentality of the world
The only people who have ever had a problem with the term ‘Global South’ are those who do not see the need for the existence of an alternative to Western hegemony.

It was a bleak Easter 32 years ago when Chris Hani was assassinated at a sensitive time in the South African transition. His death left too many unanswered questions and his thinking remains relevant today more than ever.

I had the rare pleasure of seeing John Kani in “Sizwe Bansi is Dead” on the Southbank. This was one of Fugard’s essential anti-apartheid plays. We studied “People are living there” at school and Tsotsi, based on a novel by Fugard, won an academy award.

Deeply saddened to hear of the passing of a South African luminary, Athol Fugard. He was ahead of his time and he was a genius. May he rest in peace. #AtholFugard
