Do you know what a zero-day exploit is? It is, by definition, unprecedented.
No, it's simply a direct refutation of your claim (unsubstantiated, as far as I can tell) that OpenAI models took actions that were unprecedented in its training data

I guess I see it differently. AI is just a tool. It lowers the barrier to entry so you get more people who don't spend the time to make something good just pushing something out. But this was a meme before AI for a reason

I agree that open weights models are a threat but I think you're overestimating the value of the Qwen 3.8 27B and running local models. That model can be very smart, but largely through spending a LOT of tokens thinking.

I won't claim to know what they think they're doing with Fable. They put out Opus 5 which is ~ the same intelligence for 1/5th the price. The dot all the way off to the right is Fable. The dot at the top is Opus. That's not keeping their revenues from going up exponentially, though.

This is my biggest complaint about Opus 5. No other model does this
Given how deep my context is, I'd rather hand this off cleanly than start a five-part fix I can't finish. The parent-repo chown is the one that needs doing first and shouldn't wait.

Another way to say that is that incumbents are worried about losing their position and up-and-comers view it as an opportunity. Anti-AI is colonialism. jk sort of.
How do people around the world feel about the rise of AI in daily life chart. Top is US, Italy, Australia, Brazil, Greece, Canada, UK in more concerned than excited. Bottom is S Korea, India, Isreal, Nigeria, Turkey, Japan.

Which half truths? Yes, data centers use a lot of power. Localities should require them to bring some large percentage of their expected usage online from renewable sources or transmission interconnects. Industry turns resources into economic activity. We should regulate that, not stop it.
Across the entire Colorado River Basin—not just its desert portion—a 2024 water accounting estimated that alfalfa consumed more than 5 million acre-feet per year, or about 26% of all basin water consumption. Alfalfa plus other cattle-feed crops represented 32%. Peer-reviewed study in Communications Earth & Environment; NASA summary. Basin-wide crop estimates remain model-dependent, so the Arizona and Imperial Valley figures are more appropriate for local planning.
