It’s #WeedlessWednesday! While more research on the long‑term effects of cannabis is needed, one thing we know for sure is that inhaling smoke from cannabis can be harmful to your lungs, because any kind of smoke exposes tissue to toxins and irritants.

Asbestosis is a long-term lung disease caused by inhaling asbestos fibers. Once used in products like insulation, vinyl floor tiles, cement and brake linings, it's now banned in Canada, but its effects can last a lifetime. It’s a known human carcinogen, meaning it can cause cancer in humans.

Cold air can be tough on your lungs, especially for people with asthma, COPD or other respiratory conditions. 🥶 When you breathe in very cold, dry air, your airways can tighten, making it harder to breathe and sometimes triggering coughing, wheezing or shortness of breath.

Boo! There’s a hidden danger that’s scarier than any ghost. 👻 #Radon is the second-leading cause of lung cancer in Canada and can be found in almost every home. The only way to know if it’s lurking in your house is to test, and it’s best to do so over the winter (less ventilation in your home).
Quick tip: It's best to test for radon over the winter months, when there is less ventilation in your home.
