got my answer: it didnt actually get 1,000 views, it got 200. the view count is 5 times what it should be. And the click through rate percentage implies that the other 800 views are from people hovering over the thumbnail for a second and then scrolling youtube is a fucking joke

video analytics for the "it was my birthday yesterday" video on my second channel. It shows that the video has 1,094 total views, but 205 engaged views. Thumbnail clickthrough rate is 1.9% against 4,000 impressions, meaning only 80 people even clicked on the thumbnail to watch it

ADDENDUM: Youtube is changing how source identifiers look on some links, with them appearing as "?is=" instead of "?si=" now. I can only assume this is an attempt to get around people automatically scrubbing tracking info from links they send. Keep this in mind!

Currently planning a video where I go over all the current discord alternatives on the market and try to find the best one of the bunch. So if you have one I might not have heard of, please tell me! Bonus points & an extra likelihood of it getting featured in the video if:

- it has text channel functionality similar to discord
- signing up & joining a server is straightforwar
- it's open source and/or has E2EE
- little to no vibe coding was involved, as stated by the developer

None of these are strict requirements, but they're definite priorities when finding a new place to chat with my friend group. I'll be sure to try and credit you if I throw yours into the mix.

The copilot window that pops up at the bottom of the browser when I reply to an email. These are suggested "drafts" where you click one of the prompts (e.g. reviewing links now, need clarification, etc). I'm assuming when you click one it writes the entire email for you.

I learned about this thought experiment a couple months ago, and it was fascinating to me. Mainly because when I first heard it, I thought the answer was obvious, and that people would be stupid for picking the other option. Surprisingly though, it's actually pretty divisive.

The popularity of it has faded since a couple months ago, but I'm still interested in understanding exactly where the divide lies. I have theories that I want to look into and potentially make a video about, but before that, i'd love to get your thoughts.

Vote in the poll below with your answer to the thought experiment. Also, if you feel comfortable doing so, leave a comment explaining your reasoning for voting the way you did (this may be used in a future video). If you have NO idea what the hell I'm talking about, a summary of the experiment is below.

"The whole of humanity is kidnapped by aliens at the exact same time, and each person ends up in a room, completely alone, with two buttons, one red, one blue. Each person is told that everyone else has to press one of these two buttons as well. Each person must press one of the buttons, and cannot press both. If at least 50% of people press the blue button, everyone is safe. However, if at least 50% of people press the red button, everyone that picked the blue button will die."

Not only am I not finding any credible source for the quote on the right, but this is from an instagram account that actively churns out AI slop images (uploaded as reels) on an almost hourly basis. Absolutely inexcusable hypocrisy on the poster's part. Unironically, do better.
