Dantzig @camilotranquilo.bsky.social · 26/06/2026I really like the original article’s point that these researchers were already aligned with BP. The extent to which normative thinking is rewarded in academia is really obvious here, and very frustrating. 140
Dantzig @camilotranquilo.bsky.social · 26/06/2026Something that’s really bothered me is the heavy reliance on carbon capture and storage that Net Zero America pushes. I find it hard to imagine that the presence of CCS allowing continued fossil fuel use in their study isn’t influenced by that money and those perspectives. 140
Dantzig @camilotranquilo.bsky.social · 23/03/2026Are you aware of Library Genesis? Free access to every textbook I used in undergrad and graduate school. 010
Dantzig @camilotranquilo.bsky.social · 16/10/2025I (not yet 30) recently learned that human happiness follows a u shaped curve throughout life. Apparently the lowest point is at ~50 but trends up after. So midlife crisis is well founded in the data. Hang in there, you do excellent meaningful work. Sorry that’s not more comforting. 080

Dantzig @camilotranquilo.bsky.social · 14/09/2025Is all that honking in support, or opposition, or both..? :( 000
Dantzig @camilotranquilo.bsky.social · 09/09/2025Idk, Sayed seems more honest to me. I also learned today that he helped eliminate medical debt for ~300k Michiganders. And he doesn’t have these concerning funding sources. I put my hopes in his vision. And from McMarrows campaign materials, I haven’t seen a compelling vision. 000
Dantzig @camilotranquilo.bsky.social · 09/09/2025I don’t think we’ve been demanding enough. Like not even close to enough. We’ve allowed so much for decades now. That’s partly why we’re here imo. I don’t think I have unreasonable idealistic expectations that if you say you’ll fight someone, you’re not taking their money too. 100
Dantzig @camilotranquilo.bsky.social · 09/09/2025That’s fair, but there are candidates who choose not to take money from concerning sources. It’s not unreasonable imo to expect a candidate to refuse such donations. And furthermore, if she’s taking their donations, then saying she’ll stand up to them, it is hard for me to buy. 100
Dantzig @camilotranquilo.bsky.social · 09/09/2025That’s fair. I’m not saying she’s completely in their pocket, either, but these are definitely red flags imo. I might be to critical, but I guess I’m just very very skeptical of candidates, we’ve been fed BS for years, and Im trying to keep myself from falling it. 200
Dantzig @camilotranquilo.bsky.social · 09/09/2025To be fair, she’s also got large contributions from unions, but she’s also got large contributions from real estate, health insurers, and the auto industry, amongst others. 200

Dantzig @camilotranquilo.bsky.social · 08/02/2025Not really, most the scientific R&D is developed in universities, which is then spun it out to private sectors via research publications, some patents, and startups. Private industry does much less R&D then it used to. Industry chases profits, and research is expensive with only long term rewards. 100
