nuGITS has that feeling of adhering too close to the source. a level of density in dialog and action that's suitable for print, but not for TV. amazing to look at, but unconcerned with ensuring the viewer is following along with the plot. saru+gits should hit but it just doesn't, i'm sorry.

by no means perfect. kinda messy in the 2nd act. it's sometimes hectic / overstuffed. but the 3rd act hits. they squeeze in some real shit, not just white suburban problems. kinda can't believe how hard it goes sometimes tbh. yet somehow not preachy. political but not sanctimonious.

reminds me of attending an Art Center grad show. each major had its own gallery space. "Fine Art" area was a ghost town. it didn't help that it was all dumb bullshit made by rich kids. meanwhile, the "Illustration" gallery was PACKED with normies, and every piece in it was sick. that told me enough.

i've kept my eye out for this for a long time, and some elements that i once thought unique have either spread or came from elsewhere. some elements are now seen as "cheugy". the closest anything gets is what you'd see in a boba shop (appropriately for SGV). but nothing else is quite so extreme
