The phrase "high expectations" has come to be a point of sadness. It is meant to refer to the teachers' belief that a student can always learn and grow to a high standard, and then support that growth. It has come to mean teachers making exacting demands of students and blaming them for failure.

People sometimes seem incredulous when I say I studied educational psychology. It's a weird response. I tell such people that it's the one of a shrinking number of fields in which it's still generally acceptable to experiment on children, and the closest I could get to being a mad scientist.

Be interesting to see if Bluesky can make it work. Twitter was never able to be profitable the way they wanted, which is why they were willing to sell to Musk in the first place. I haven't seen an ad on here yet.

If Harris has won the election, Musk - by his own admission - possibly would have ended up in gaol (or the billionaire equivalent) and ownership of Twitter may have been an issue in that process. Now... There's no hope for that platform.
