I hope someday we defeat fascism and in the far future, No Kings Day is celebrated as a federal holiday, and little children leave out dance mixtapes and cookies for the Resistance Frog, who leaves pocket Constitutions in their shoes.

A comment by zachwlambert:
I can't wait to stay up late on No Kings Eve to eat bites of the Resistance Frog cookies, put pocket Constitutions in my grandchildren's shoes, and then wake up the next morning for a dance party to all of our favorite Rage Against the Machine songs

A post from Timothy Snyder

Five things to remember about war:
1. Many things reported with confidence in the first hours and days will turn out not to be true
2. Whatever they say, the people who start wars are often thinking chiefly about domestic politics
3. The rationale given for a war will change over time, such that actual success or failure in achieving a named objective is less relevant than one might think
4. Wars are unpredictable
5. Wars are easy to start and hard to stop

A decorated and lit artificial Christmas tree with a red skirt and a Grumpy Octopus plushie where the star would be. It’s decorated with antique and vintage ornaments, kitschy ornaments, and ornaments I’ve bought while traveling–including a collection of glass Mickey Ears from Disney, a glass macaron, a glass TARDIS, a glass pickle (IYKYK), my mom and maternal grandmother’s vintage ornaments, it’s crowded and sparkling… A ceramic gingerbread house and a copy of The Night Before Christmas from the 1950s are tucked under the tree. The tree stands next to a piano, and a poster of Le Chat Noir hangs on the wall to its right.

An excerpt from Cameron Garriepy’s forthcoming romance, posted for #FridayKiss:

Sean was waiting for her by his locker after Woodside Singers' practice. He sat on the floor, hunched over his guitar, playing Cady's favorite Sarah McLachlan song. She picked up the melody as she approached.
Sean didn't look up. "You are singing with me tonight."
She couldn't. Could she?
"I can hear you trying to talk yourself out of it." Sean was looking up at her now, his fingers still idly strumming the chord progression. His half-smile flirted with his mouth, and his hair was pushed behind his ears. Cady's lungs squeezed.
"If you want me to, I will," she said, more bravely than she felt.

When her 15 minutes of fame brings the boy who broke her heart back into her life, author Cady Lewis has to face the past she’s worked hard to leave behind her. Sean Wade got everything he ever wanted, except the woman he loved, and he’s not losing his second chance. #2025Pit #A #CR #R #WF

Save Me A Second Chance
When debut romance author Cady Lewis snags the daytime tv interview of a lifetime, the last person she expects to share the hot seat with is the rock star who broke her heart when they were teenagers.
Cady and Sean Wade's innocent, slow-burn of a high school romance broke all the rules. A plus-size side kick never gets the hot new guy—or does she? Cady never got to find out, because Sean vanished the night of their senior prom, and she never saw or heard from him again. When he got famous, she swore to get over him.
How better than to write the happily-ever-after she never had?.
Twenty years later, Cady and Sean are thrown into one another's lives, and Sean sees his chance to make things right and win the heart of the only woman he's ever truly loved.
Cady still carries the weight of Sean's betrayal all those years ago, but she can't help trusting him. As the couple's high-profile reunion plays out, their pasts threatens the future they want to build together.Centered on a teal background, an image of a plus-size, white brunette woman in a short, sparkly red dress embracing a tall, handsome man dressed in black pants and a black button down shirt. Excerpt
Sean. Wade. Was. In. Her. Bed.
Disturbed by Cady turning over, Guillermo farted. Cady's already jangled nerves gave up, and she giggled. Sean's eyes fluttered open and he gifted her with one of his rare, true smiles.
"Hey, Cady."
She would never tire of hearing him say those two words, pathetic though it might be. She coughed into her pillow. "What are you doing here?"
"Experiencing the glory of pug farts, it would seem." Guillermo stretched and rolled against Sean's leg under the comforter from her couch. Sean propped himself up on one elbow. "You fell asleep about four minutes into that terrible movie." He laughed silently. "I was working on a new song, so I kept doing that for a while. Then Guillermo scratched at the door, so I took him out to pee on the mailbox on the corner. When we came back iyou were kinda half awake, so I scooped you up and tucked you in."
He carried her? Granted, he was no longer the skinny, wiry seventeen-year-old boy he'd been, but she was not a delicate woman men swung up into their arms, never mind deadlifted from the sofa. What must he have thought, hefting her off the couch and depositing her in her bed?
He lowered himself down, tucking his hands under the pillow. "You asked me to stay, so I did. I hope that's okay."
She'd asked him to stay?
You did, her heart whispered, and he stayed. "It's okay."
"Do you want me to go? The couch is fine"
"No, if you're okay here, stay."
"Go back to sleep, Cady. I'll see you in the morning." He stretched across the small chasm between them and pressed his lips to hers.
Her last thought before sleep reclaimed her was that, after all these years, his kiss felt like home.

CAUCACITY is Donald Trump disparaging Michelle Obama for years, ridiculing her looks, calling her nasty, and white folks expecting her to attend his inaugural.
It's JD Vance disrespecting Kamala Harris and calling her "trash," and white folks expecting her to give him a tour of the VP residence.
It's disgusting to see people excuse white men for disrespecting Black women and then disparage Black women for not bowing down and kissing the rings of the white men who disrespected them.
