People’s perception on invasive species is always interesting, with Mimma calling the invasive sea urchin Diadema setosum “a sea urchin of grande class” and Marta describing the invasive rabbitfish Siganus luridus with its fancy patterns “Just Cavalli” 😁

Just completed a productive annual meeting in Pisa hosted by @dipbiounipi.bsky.social. Main conclusion: harmonize monitoring of reefs across the Mediterranean, otherwise time series collected locally will not be comperable and able to detect basin wide changes across time and space @biodiversa.eu

Researchers from #StazioneAntonDohrn and the #UniversityofPisa implemented #CAMBioMed 's monitoring protocols for temperate rocky reefs in Tuscany last week. In contrast to the Cyclades Islands (Greece), macroalgal forests were present whereas no alien herbiovores were recorded.
