I remember hearing that the elevated (ELs) in NYC relegated the streets they were on to second class status and the value of properties was depressed. I'm sure this negative perception is the reason it hasn't been seriously considered for downtown Seattle

I read Susan Stern's book "With the Weathermen" back in the 70s and I just started reading Kit Bakke's book "Protest on Trial". Very interesting and evokes the craziness of the 60s and 70s that is missing today.
