as much as i understand ur frustration they *are* just the communication link between users and those who can actually fix it. if backend tells them to close the case it's out of their control—these roles often lack system perms to do anything beyond the troublsehooting list they're given

I have an alt where I just repost other people's cool art if any of ya are interested and/or need other stuff to fill your dash with than just me rambling about cybersecurity like an old man yelling at kids to get off his lawn @calomena.bsky.social

It's why X turned into the shitshow it is today. Because people often only see the "surface" of your opinion that's been condensed into buzzwords and simplified statements that become difficult to source with only a single link embedded. I'm in my old man shaking fist angrily at the sky arc sorry

These are also good to enable if you have the options

(of course, if you add a website to the exception list, the company behind it will be able to collect stats and data on you)

(2/2) add websites to your exception list if there's sites you frequent and don't feel like logging into all the time. This will majorly mess up their stats and data collection on you.

(1/2) So there's one thing stated in bsky's TOS that you might wanna be aware of: they don't respect "Do Not Track" requests. It's not the bigest gripe since it's just cookies and stuff, but if you wanna be on the safe side, you can check "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed", and—

They really should increase the word limit further because anyone seeing this quote reposted will be missing my two other additions, removing important context. It's an open invitation for knee-jerk reactions, and I hope that a site made in response to X's decline would take that into account.

If you upload art and want an extra layer of protection, use Glaze. It's not a permanent solution, but a temporary one that sounds solid for now. Be aware that it may stop working at some point if companies figure out how to circumvent it, though, so make sure to keep an eye on their site for news.

the most damning: the TOS screenshot at the beginning is X's, not bsky's. they intentionally set it up like that to be confused with, I'm sure

they don't provide any kind of source to the bit about JP artists getting banned either—like where did THAT come from

looking more closely at the post and it's just nonsense. you can still view posts on X even if you aren't logged in. it's no less "safer" than bsky is. i can't find anything in bsky TOS that hints at them shilling to AI, only standard data usage that most websites have anyway

cal @calomena.com · 20/10/2024
yeah reading through that made my eyes roll over lmfao. although, one of these days i'll deep-dive into the TOS and figure out what it actually says because going through the qrt's and replies on that post is literally net-zero information gained

CORRECT ANSWER i'm so sorry for assuming you were an Edelgard simp

Also, this pertains to people who migrated *because* of the AI stuff, so if you don't care about that as much, then...shrug? lol

cal @calomena.com · 20/10/2024
This isn't a "do it or you don't mean it" scenario, of course. There's still CC's followings (and similar) to take into account. It's a migration, not activism.

If you're wanting to give Elon Musk a message, you have to commit and actually deactivate your X account. As long as you keep using it, it will keep the platform alive. The best way to tell a company they fucked up is through statistics.

Block and move on. Block and move on. Block on a whim, Block weird replies. We are not here to "win" the internet, we are here to read cool posts from experts and artists we would never ordinarily be able to interact with, and occasionally promote our own cool stuff to like-minded weirdos.

support shared this with me! unsure if OAuth was already on the list prior to me asking, but it's *there*. i'm not the biggest fan of 2FA first having arrived as of last week, but at least they're doing it
