Nyx dozes off there, apparently, because he’s immediately awakened by a soft nudge to his foot. It’s not a pigeon this time, but rather he opens his eyes to a well-dressed pair of kneecaps, his gaze dragging upwards until he eventually meets the Marshall’s stony eyes. He holds the connection for several heartbeats, the only way he knows to tell time right now, and when it’s clear that Leonis isn’t planning on moving, he shifts over, curling in on himself until his cheeks are warm once more.

He ignores the movement around him, knowing that if the Marshall was going to come after him, he’d at least respect Nyx enough to approach him in a more neutral location. He only raises his head when Cor stops moving, and he raises his eyes to see that the Marshall’s settled in next to him, lowering himself to the cold ground.

“You’re here.”

It’s the absolutely stupidest thing a man could say, and Nyx honors it by slowly raising his head to stare daggers at the other man. Thankfully, Cor takes it as intended. Although his follow-up is some absolute bullshit.

“You’ve healed up appropriately, I assume?”
