New national data just released this week by U.S. News and World Report. In California, the top three breeds are the French Bulldog, Chihuahua, and Golden Retriever. In our county, we'd likely see both Australian cattle dogs (heelers) and German Shepherds landing at least in the top five.

The events of the last week are a reminder of how important it is to be ready to evacuate at a moment’s notice. Your pet(s) need a go-bag too! Take the time to pre-pack at least the most crucial items so that you can grab and go in the event of a fire or other disaster. #GannFire

Our best guess is that Rolex (male, one blue eye) and his sister Cartier are “shepskies,” or shepherd/husky mixes. They are about 12 weeks old. They are both very people-oriented. They enjoy other dogs, too — but if there’s a person present, that’s their preference. #animalshelter

Pollywog is long ‘n’ low, suggesting basset hound, corgi, or dachshund in his DNA. Because he’s ridiculously close to the ground, it gives the feeling that he’s a smallish dog. (You’ll only notice that he is not, in fact, truly small when you give an involuntary “Oof!” as he climbs onto your lap.)
