One thing that has surprised me during this latest round of American decline is the response from YouTubers and TikTokers. The channels WatchMojo and New Rockstars, ostensibly entertainment discussion channels, both did videos on the 1st amendment issue happening. Way to step up?

Eddie got his checkup at the vet and his stitches are healing nicely! ...but he was shaking like a leaf the entire time. Fear of vet: cemented for life.

Closet clean out continues: I have this big box of notes and letters and programs and things from my 15 years of teaching and part of me just wants to say goodbye to it all and move forward and part of me wants to hoard it all in a box forever.

Yeah. He was a cheerful person with lots of flare, but also lots and lots of emotional baggage and hang-ups.

Closet clean out continues. Found old purikura and love letters from my ex-fiance who dumped me oh like 8 years ago now. Throwing them out really does make my apartment feel cleaner, somehow.

Anybody in Japan want a free resin 3D printer and curing station? You just have to pay chakubarai shipping from Yamato. Both have resin residue on them because I constantly spilled resin and the tape is because I replaced the screen on the printer itself. All spare parts, too.

Take your time! Let me know if you find something you'd like!

Caitlin Austin @caitlinsaustin.bsky.social · 09/09/2025

If you find something you like, I can then tell you what it would cost to print based on how much plastic it uses and how many hours it takes to print. Simple while filament is generally the cheapest. Also, I'm assuming you're in Japan? If so shipping is cheap, too. Even Etsy has STLs these days!

I don't have a Switch myself so I'm not sure what to look for on those, but here's a list of the most popular places to get STL, 3D print files made by others. Some are free, some cost money for the file. cults3d.com www.myminifactory.com www.thingiverse.com thangs.com makerworld.com/en

My condolences. My personal guess is a large part of pension, tax, and health insurance non-payment issues are because of crap like that.

A thing that I love is when I cancel a service in Japan and my account on the website or in the app disappears but I still get spam from that company to my email and the only way to unsubscribe... Is to log into the account that they deleted. Perfect. No notes.

I've been avoiding spending money on non-essentials, but in order to survive the rest of August, I decided to buy a larger sun hat and a proper parasol. Look at this monster! Honestly, no regrets.

Tasks filing paperwork at government offices today and losing the will to live. Not because of the government offices. The workers there are extremely patient and helpful. But just going outside in August makes me want to die.

What's to say? The supernatural world is similar in all of them! The reaction/choices of adults around them just change the genre

Anyway, my solution to the problem is to give the aliens Mars. They'd obviously have to do extensive mods to their bodies or the Earth to make it suitable for their long term survival. So, just use the asteroid belt for supplies and build a Mars utopia. Same stable orbit!

So my friend got me to watch the first episode of Kaiju No. 8 and the main character is named Kafka, which I'm assuming is a reference to The Metamorphosis, but that story is a prolonged metaphor about disability and how the disabled are treated. This...is just monsters, right?

What do we think? New terracotta filament from Kexcelled and new Overture green. Making flat prints of leaves to mimic papercraft plants means I can render even more types of plants than before but with plastic durability and 3D printing replicability! I'm maybe a tad obsessed.
