Cracking photo of Abercorn FC, one of the founders of the Scottish Football League. They folded in 1920 - largely due to falling behind St. Mirren in both popularity and stature. As was the case with many other clubs in smaller Scottish towns, it simply wasn't feasible to sustain two senior clubs.

Only time I was ever at Love Street was to see George Best playing for Hibs. I think I was 13.

That was November 24th 1979, and the match finished 2-1 St Mirren in front of 13,798.

Alex Ferguson at Love Street in the snow, around 1976. Check out the low floodlight at Cairters Corner, apparently required because the Civil Aviation Authority objected to higher pylons, but eventually they were replaced a few years later.

A familiar view for some in the last 5 minutes of matches at Love Street........this is from 2nd September 2007 v Celtic.

St Mirren v Sunderland on 21st July 2018. Despite being appointed on the 8th June of the previous month, an already desperate Alan Stubbs plays 3 trialists with the league season fast approaching. Can you name them?

Agree totally, I always remember it didn't make the top 5 Scottish goals of the WEEK on SKY Sports, but the Jelavic goal in the same match did, which was a scrappy average goal.
