100% agree about mouthfeel. Any time a food show contestant says “deconstructed” or a judge says “unctuous (mouthfeel!)” I feel a way.

Yikes, that was unexpected 😱 A deep-sea anglerfish patiently waits... These fish typically use a modified dorsal fin ray that acts as a fishing rod with a glowing lure (bioluminescent bait) to attract prey close by. The fish can swallow prey up to twice its own size. #marinelife #deepsea

My family has started a “headbands” style game with simple postit notes on foreheads. Someone writes a noun for someone else to guess by asking yes/no questions. It’s been awesome. Here are some of this evening’s prompts. My favorites: chest burster from Alien and Moogles

You ever wonder what it would be like to NOT think about the US president every single day, wondering what he’s said now or what he’s doing? Like, just to trust that the president is doing his job without stressing about it? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Big, beautiful ovations. People tell me that means loud clapping. It was beautiful. The most big ovation anyone has ever seen. Everyone said it was beautiful. And big. The clapping was so big and beautiful.

This is the big takeaway. No matter who is implicated, others know. Those others will speak out with authority when they’re able. It might take a while, but someone who knows something will speak out. Whether Trump is still alive and accountable at that point is a different question.

Take heart knowing that the people doing their jobs, who have constantly done their jobs regardless of shutdowns, will continue doing their jobs. Air travel is still safer than driving to work or to your kids’ school. Delays mean that workers are taking the time to make sure you get there safely.

I’m guilty of having a “holiday travel” moment! We booked a flight out of BUF to home for Tuesday thanksgiving week 2014. We got a band of lake effect snow — over 5’ at our house that weekend. I remember telling my husband “If the plane’s flying, we’re making it.” We made it. It was hairy.

I wear ear protection to shows nowadays. My advice: EARPLUGS AND CRANK IT LOUD AF! Seriously, I’ve got hearing damage, probably from decades of punk/rock/metal shows. But I also have no regrets, just earplugs and awareness now. The ringing is constant and annoying. Still worth it.

I’m not a smart person, but I can tell you that many (almost all recent) apartment complexes in my ~15 mile radius are all owned by by the same company. It’s disgusting, since easily 50k people are affected by this landlord TM monopoly — local land/homeowners and renters alike.

I’m not saying you’re wrong — I agree with you — but fixing the current capitalist oligarchy and its inherent corruption would be v helpful on every level, including food chains and fuel. Oil is unnecessary; so is starvation. There’s plenty resources for everyone to be healthy, fed and warm!

I’m not sure if “illegally detained” means the same as “kidnapped” in legal terms but it’s the same thing to me. And now ICE is blurring those lines by “arresting” US citizens. The kid in McMinnville OR who was “arrested” by ICE Friday during his high school lunch break was kidnapped in my view.

I’m still not sure how or why churches are not taxed. I understand the separation of church and state, but when the church is influencing the state at every governmental level, the church should be accordingly taxed.

Reddit has a sub committed to this — it’s called NotADragQueen. It’s (almost) always a white, straight, “Christian” man who is “a pillar of church, business and community” that does this shit. Gay/drag DOES NOT EQUAL pedo or abusive. White, male, Christian, “pillar of the church”? It’s likely.

I instinctively reached out for my void, Evie. She’s my go-to floof for snuggles. Usually she’s open to surprise cuddles. But not just now. She was perched comfortably on a couch pillow next to me, but obviously felt a bit misused by the hug; now she’s in the kitchen asking pitifully for snacks.

WNY/Buffalo had a cereal smell because of General Mills. I lived there for fifteen years. Locals would sometimes say “oh, it’s a lucky charm day!” but it always smelled like Cheerios to me. Mid-valley Oregon often smells like sulfur from the paper/pulp mills or nitrogen from crop fertilizer.

I love this so much! Great job! Reminds me of my favorite aunt, who got a half B&W/rainbow tat with her favorite foster kid. As she was explaining it at a family holiday dinner, she said “obviously the rainbow half is for (kid) because I’m not gay” “What!?” We’d all thought she was for 40 years.

I will never forget how a competent and capable Democrat senator, who had shown himself to be hard-working for his constituency, was accused of sexual misconduct. He immediately apologized; never legally charged for any of it. But forced to resign by Schumer. Imagine if Al Franken had had an (R).

@newyorkstateag.bsky.social I’m with you — you’ve been singled out. Question: a news report summed up your case with “A dismissal with prejudice would bar recharging, arguing the indictment violates the Fifth Amendment due to outrageous government conduct”… Can you clarify for a numpty (me)?

I’m at the point that I welcome her anti-Trump efforts while also wholesale distrusting her. Simple people are often surprisingly complex; she’s shown herself to be simple and not at all complex. She’s out for herself. If she can sway the current 60/40, I’m here for it. Any win is a win.

Name and shame. Regardless of fame or wealth! ANYONE who knowingly engaged in trafficking, pedophilia, rape, sexual assault or covering up those crimes AT ANY POINT (statutes of limitations for sexual crimes are bad) needs to get their comeuppance. Name and shame. And prosecute.

I don’t see it addressed in the article — why has it taken so long for legislation to be “on the verge” for simply monitoring the nitrate levels?

I think the best thing about it is that the only real drama is “will it stand? Is it flavorful? Will they make it in time? Will it be stodgy?” And the wholesomeness rarely feels forced. It’s my family’s go-to for “we need to feel good about humanity” show. Sometimes we argue about Noel’s shirt.

Authorities say chances are “slim to none” that the young whale survives. The whale had been caught in fishing nets.

If anyone is looking for an excellent narrative explanation of the Dark Forest theory, 3 Body Problem by Liu Cixin made it very accessible and understandable to me. It affected me in a visceral way and has become my baseline for all other alien stories.
