"GTA VI wins Game Of The Year" the Rockstar Devs Reaction after crunching:

The Art Sozo-sha @cafeautumn.bsky.social · 12/10/2026

that's it for now, thanks for looking at this. again, none of this is law or rules or tips, i've just gotten questions asked over the years about being an artist and i wanted to share my thoughts about it from my perspective.

outside of that, something as simple as a stick figure can go a long way. you can find poses, and draw stick figures in those poses and go from there. anatomy is hard, don't beat yourself up over it if you feel like you can't get it right. alot of us stuggle with it.

"how do i get better at anatomy?" breaking body shapes down into geometry is a good way, but other than that, here's something i picked up on: curves and anatomy on a body are shaped like lemons in places. arms, legs, and even chests, the way a lemon curves can help be a guide for this.

no matter what you use, where you can improve as an artist is always going to show, and that's fine. and if you don't know how to do certain things right, ask other artists how they'd approach it. going broke for your art shouldn't be your concern. don't try to consider it.

money isn't a necessity to make the work. just because your favorite artists use (Insert software here that's not Adobe) doesn't mean its mandatory for you to make something. the extra tools can make the process efficient, but that's about it. and if you can't afford it, then don't.

"How do you get started on drawing art when you're broke/have little money to spend?" you work with what you got. most of my background in drawing sketch art is in school notebooks i used while ignoring class. for years in digital art, i've used Autodesk Sketchbook, which is a free to use software.

Darker colors that contrast well with brighter colors can sell the illusion of what is black in an artwork. Drawing & working with black isn't impossible, you just need to know how to work with it. like inverting the outlines, or even just using other colors on black/dark paper.

example: one rule of artistry I've gotten drilled into me is "NEVER COLOR/SHADE WITH PURE BLACK." and i agree...to a fault. different styles and mediums you draw in can have different rules and formats to hit right in the artist's eyes. sometimes using black for shading actually helps the art.

while using a set kind of colors you like can be limiting, nothing's saying you can't find other colors that speak to you in other places. the world IRL & in Art is full of color, both vibrant and muted. and once you know what you're doing, bending/breaking the rules can lead to something unique.

"i can't figure out how to color right, how do other artists do it?" honestly, i dunno. professionals have told me to study the color wheel, but even knowing it i still can't get it to click. rather, colors i enjoy seeing used in media i like, or what other artists go for, I seek them out.

over the years i've broken out of the habit of sticking 1-1 of how a pose is made and went towards adjusting things during an art piece to help it look the way i want. that's taken years for me. there's no rush on this. take your time starting out.

being an artist isn't about the popularity or how good a work of art looks. its about where you are now, and how far you can go down the line. i've heard people rag on artists by complaining we take too long, but real life matters aside, its a craft that has you always second guessing and changing.

"How do you get started drawing as an artist?" I just sketched things in notebooks i found by hand as a kid. I took art courses in highschool, 2 Still Life courses and a painting course in college. but mostly, i just drew what i wanted & moved to digital art in 2018.

here's a thread of questions i've gotten asked about some things with being an artist. these aren't rules or tips really, just some stuff i figured out about drawing since the late 2000s. this is just my perspective on things as an artist.

its that duology of feeling weak and helpless in those moments while having an episode where all rationale goes out the window that hits it. top it off with the fact that she speaks like a cartoon character like a metaphor for fiction being a coping device, and it nails what Shell Shock is like.

Guinevere is probably one of the most accurate depictions of a trauma survivor I've seen in recent memory. its that mixture of past delusions and perceptions being a parallel of your present, the fear you have & others have of you, the anger, and the feeling of being happier around others you like.

after watching the first 3 episodes of Seven Havens, i gotta say...this is really good. the world they set up in this is really interesting, the story they're building for down the line has me hooked, i love the characters & the fact that they have gay beans being casual genuinely makes me happy.

I did a quick search on the topic and found another article that goes into the subject matter as well. It just sounds like the REX Engine is just an upgraded RE Engine, and not how Polygon & IGN have been getting people to think its GenAI... www.dualshockers.com/capcom-gives...

Cannot agree with this enough, PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH. the people defending GenAI is bad enough, but everyone else who just claims this with real artists isnt helping. At all. Please do your research. And contact human artists you fancy with commission requests if they're open.

the fact that more people nowadays follow the "i never actually bothered to consume this piece of media, however this one person online said this about it, so im going to just blindly agree with their points and act like its my own opinion" mentality is genuinely sad.

Onimusha Way Of The Sword on its own is an enjoyable, graphic, detailed, and chaotic game with a historical fiction angle. as an addition to a franchise that's over 20 years old, it's a genuine return to form as a game that was once a Resident Evil Concept with Samurai & Demons.

I truly, deeply, sincerely do think the guy flipping burgers at McDonalds should be able to afford rent, bills, and groceries with his paycheck alone. That's kind of the whole point of having a job and I can't believe this is considered a radical position.🤷🏽‍♀️

and unlike a fighting game, i can't just check once and then stop, because it's 100 hour rpg, i have to sit through all this shit over and over again to make sure its what i want and deal with a game, that i'm burnt out over. all because I wanted something to change about it that i could change.

The question to ask is not if you're better than the tech or not, but rather what are you capable of doing without GenAI? Doesnt matter to the passionate creatives. We know how to do our jobs. The people backing the tech tho...

hot take: if the people defending companies like sony, microsoft & nintendo for what they're doing just said "i saved up so much for this console before all of this and i can't refund it so im just stuck with it now" it would be a genuinely valid argument to have.
