Marble Hill is the northernmost neighborhood in Manhattan (it makes a great bar bet). In 1817 a canal was dug that separated it physically from Manhattan, but legally it is still part of it.

Oh yes, she’s the worst. She and her faction lost their majority, Then proceeded to “change the rules” even though once you lose that’s it you’re out right then. The other side had to sue, and they won. And then she tries again with seekrit meeting. Probably deserves prison.

Locals call it St John the Unfinished, because it is. They started building it in 1898 and it’s not done. They have great programs for stone masons and marble carvers which helps keep those arts alive. They do lots of great stuff there.

I think this video is from the Cathedral of St John the Divine in NYC. It’s huge, the largest church in N. America! I think they are particularly known for their St Francis blessing of the animals so people come from far and wide, thus the wide variety of animals.

One of my big memories was maybe a week or two afterwards, you organized an outing for a bunch of friends and colleagues to the Peculier Pub in the village. It was the first moment we could all take a breath, be with other humans, and tell our stories to each other. Thank you. ❤️

A lovely piece on how the doctrine of the Catholic Church can change. I love how Newman says but if we look back we can see that’s how it should have been all along. It gives hope for those of us who stay. I’d love to hear the thoughts of @catholickungfu.bsky.social studies.ie/suffer-the-l...

We’re a trans-racial family so I was always looking for that kind of representation, which is also sadly lacking in a lot of children’s books. Although, I think it’s improving.

Oh, rats, sorry. My child is older so it’s been awhile since I’ve read it. I just remember being very pleased with the inclusivity. I believe they update these regularly so let’s hope they add that.

A warm, realistic illustration of a Jewish rabbi and Muslim imam standing together in prayer at the 9/11 Memorial in New York City. The rabbi wears a kippah and prayer shawl; the imam wears a white kufi and dark embroidered robe. White flowers and a handwritten note reading “Many Peoples, One City, A Brighter Tomorrow” rest beside them. One World Trade Center rises in the background beneath a golden sunset. Text across the sky offers a blessing for New York, emphasizing compassion, human dignity, peace, and “salaam and shalom.” Banners and smaller inscriptions reinforce themes of kindness, justice, belonging, remembrance, healing, shared humanity, and building a more compassionate future.

The resignation of President Nixon. I was 7 years old, and staying in a boardinghouse with my grandmother in the Rockaways (the Irish riviera). Half a block from the beach, one room, 2 twin beds, a galley kitchen, a table by the window, and a little tv up on a corner shelf, bathroom down the hall.

I don’t know about the UK, but under US law the list of ingredients is not allowed to be copyrighted, but the method (instructions) is. So if you don’t have permission it is advisable to rewrite the method and then you can say the recipe is adapted from <original author>.

Did you suspend your hold? If so you won’t get the book until you unsuspend. Another possibility is that they no longer have the book. I think there’s a way to get it to show you how many copies/person waiting. Sometimes it says 0/28 or something. Which means they have 0 copes of the book.
