Need some recommendations for Metal music. Spotify has served me AI music one too many times and I don’t trust it anymore.

Starting to believe those that complain about Bluesky are just chronically online. I constantly see posts about problems but never experience them myself.

No. This is the inherent problem with not understanding what you’re arguing for. Yes, AI data centers are the problem. But when people blindly say “data centers” and not “AI data centers”, they’re arguing for removing all these services listed by OP. To be taken seriously, we must advocate properly.

Being an adult means trying to eat better, take care of yourself, and plan out meals that make sense for your situation and provide leftovers for future lunches. But also, being an adult means I can decide to throw all that out the window and order some pizza for dinner.

You could’ve taken five minutes out of your day to verify if this were real or not. Instead you chose to spread information that you haven’t verified to be true.

No, it’s not different when the outcome is the same. Just because it’d take me longer to find the post with the code doesn’t give me any more credibility for using it.

I’d like to see it like creating music. You can pick a chord that sounds pretty, but someone already used it. A song already exists in that key you’re focused on. There is no true originality is music. It’s all just things others have done once before cobbled together in a new way. Like vibe coding.

Which is exactly how many inexperienced coders learn and solve their problems… they find code in some online forum and paste it into their code base to see if it works.

There you go misquoting me again. I’m not the one that initially brought up Valve. Someone said that Valve wasn’t involved in data centers at all and I was pointing out the fallacy in that. A super simple case of me refuting a single statement, not making some grandiose assertion about the world.

“This all indicates the true value of the Tesla Giga Shanghai, which produces the Model 3 and Model Y for the Chinese market and exports (Asia, Australia, Europe, Canada and, other markets).” Notice the US is the listed there. I don’t think Chinese Teslas are on American roads. I could be wrong.

I will never understand Bluesky’s algorithm and how it randomly decides I’m super into a specific topic. Right now it’s cats. Before it’s been Birds, Rocks, Mushrooms. I never even interact with these types of posts haha.

Okay sure, I guess you could be saying that it’s no longer antisemitism, but I’d still say that’s wrong. Ever heard the term “pig slop”? That predates 4chan by a century at least.

I’d genuinely be interested in a productive conversation about it though. I think it’d be short though, because I don’t think our views on the topic differ very much.

Connor Vance @caav.me · 26/06/2026
That’s it right there. All I’ve been doing from the start is pointing out fallacies in claims because you (and OP) were making bad claims. We haven’t been able to have a productive conversation because you keep misquoting me or misrepresenting my stance on things based on assumption.

As someone who’s literally installed the hardware in these data centers, I understand it as well. You just think I’m arguing something that I’m not.

Connor Vance @caav.me · 25/06/2026
I never said data centers don’t have GPUs, I said storage doesn’t use water. Those aren’t the same haha. I’m literally pointing out that data center water usage comes from GPUs.

If surveillance is your concern, I would seriously suggest refocusing your efforts towards Flock Cameras and new SignalTrace integrations. That shit is fucked.

Connor Vance @caav.me · 23/06/2026
Storage doesn’t eat potable water, GPUs do. Sure there is some overlap with AI and surveillance, but AI data centers don’t surveil you, your phone, your car, and other internet-enabled devices do that part. If surveillance is your concern, look at Flock. Shot in the dark here, do you drive a Ford?

Exactly. As an American, I don’t want a small EV. I just did 4 days in Washington and Oregon with an EV that had a range of 200 miles, more than an average small EV. It was miserable. Daily life in average America with a short-range EV just isn’t feasible yet.

Also, “Valve has data so big deal” is a gross misinterpretation of my views. I just actually understand the nuances behind it all because I’ve actually worked in the environment.

“Said data for game services is not even remotely equivalent to AI datacenters.” Please tell me what’s different, I’d love to have your perspective.

Connor Vance @caav.me · 23/06/2026
I’m not shifting the conversation, I was bringing attention to the idiocy of saying that Valve has nothing to do with data centers. AI data centers are a different beast to data centers that allow us to live the cushy lives we now enjoy.

So would I. But you were arguing that Valve isn’t a customer of data centers, doesn’t have one themselves, or generally are not associated with data centers in any way. So let’s talk about that.

Connor Vance @caav.me · 23/06/2026
But they sure as fuck needed normal-ass data centers to store their data, just as they continue to do. Just because the current data center boom is AI focused doesn’t mean every single data center houses AI infrastructure. Data centers are vitally important to modern-day living.
