Then get into drawing figure, first using photo reference or a mannequin, and then moving into actual life model stuff once you can get the drawing done quickly so you're not too taxing on your model's patience.

You want some tips for the fundamentals? First fundamental thing to work on is your stroke making techniques, learn to draw straight lines and compound curves in one smooth stroke. Then work on building shapes, figure drawing starts with boxes, balls, lines, and other basic geometric shapes.
