A Glimpse into Vol. 38 — Like Water You Can’t Catch
I am not fond of having this feeling that time is slipping through your fingers like water you can’t catch. But at the same time, I enjoy the moment of a timeframe coming to an end. To pause. To reflect. To focus. And without resorting too much to clichés, I find myself wondering about the important moments of this past year. Have I really used my time well? Have I grown at all? What do I want from this year? The post A Glimpse into Vol. 38 — Like Water You Can’t Catch appeared first on C-Heads Magazine.

SALOMEA — Learning to trust what comes next
“My mother and grandmother taught me right. I will always stand for compassion, generosity, kindness and justice.” I find myself thinking about this a lot lately — how values like these can sometimes feel almost forgotten. And yet, living by them shouldn’t be something extraordinary. It should simply be part of how we move through the world. Rebekka Salomea carries that very same grace. Fronting SALOMEA, her journey over the last few years has been about stripping away the noise and giving her inner world the space to expand past old storylines. The Years In Between: A Conversation with Alex Lee-Aillon
“I’m learning to accept and appreciate the changes that come with getting older and with womanhood rather than constantly feeling like I need to correct them.” Almost a decade ago, photographer Lenara Choudhury introduced us to Alex Lee-Aillon on C-Heads. Back then, we spoke with the young model about confidence, life in London, social media, sustainability and the things she loved most about her life. Iris Takes the Wheel
In pointed high heels, black shorts and a soft ivory top, Iris-Doreen Goetzke leans against a cream-coloured 1961 Lincoln Continental in a Greenpoint garage. Around her: toolboxes, fluorescent lights, spare parts and the beautiful excess of an old American car. It already feels like the beginning of a story — somewhere between glamour, escape and a very ordinary afternoon suddenly turning into something else. “Whether she keeps going, runs out of gas, or gets off at the turnpike is up to the viewer.” The post Iris Takes the Wheel appeared first on C-Heads Magazine.

In Conversation with Re:Noir: Between Questions and Answers
The best songs are the ones that catch you off guard, landing precisely when you need them. From that first play, they slip into your daily rhythm and somehow make you feel a little more connected to the world. That is exactly how Re:Noir found its way to us. Re:Noir is the solo project of Enrico Antinori, a talented artist, producer and multi-instrumentalist based in Turin. Slay Raché grooves into autumn on latest single ‘You Make Me Wanna Dance’
Armed with a vibrant brand of R&B pop that she says pulls inspo from the King of Pop, Slay Raché is gearing up for the release of her sort-of-self-titled debut album ‘Slay’. Coming later this fall, the Pennsylvanian of Puerto Rican and German descent promises nothing if not catchy hooks, danceable grooves, and charged lyrics. Somewhere Between Sea and Grey
After an intense heatwave, a few crisp, cooler days can feel like a small gift — we think. Photographer Ben Everden felt the same when he recently found himself in San Francisco, where he shot this series with Sofia Lee of Look Model Agency at China Beach. “After months of Miami heat, San Francisco was freezing, foggy, and honestly a very welcome change. Grey skies, cold water, and the cliffs disappearing into the fog gave the whole afternoon such a beautiful, quiet mood. The post Somewhere Between Sea and Grey appeared first on C-Heads Magazine.

Premiere: “Everything Bagel” — On Returning and Change with Adjenai
Life changes you, and when you return to something after years away, you rarely return as exactly the same person. Maybe not entirely different, but formed by everything that happened in between — by loss, love, uncertainty, and the things you learn about yourself. “You do learn who you are, and eventually, you learn how to find the people who want to be around the real you.” The post Premiere: “Everything Bagel” — On Returning and Change with Adjenai appeared first on C-Heads Magazine.

Break of Day
"I met Juliette Pocovi for this warm, colorful shoot a few weeks ago during a trip to Saint Martin. We had discussed a few options in advance and settled on an early morning shoot. The island was all but asleep as I packed the car. The air smelled fresh, as though it might have rained in the night. It was a short drive to the beach; the road, narrow and fretted with speed bumps enough to slow me down, even though I was late leaving the house and rushing to make up for lost time. I pulled into the empty gravel parking lot, switched off the engine, and slung my bags on my shoulder." The post Break of Day appeared first on C-Heads Magazine.

La Vie En Passant
The magic of Paris lives in its details: beautiful old façades, wrought-iron balconies, narrow streets and that unmistakable sense of romance that seems to live somewhere between the buildings. For La Vie En Passant, photographer Dom Rui captures exactly this timeless feeling in Montmartre, starring the gorgeous Valeria Alvarez. Moving between balcony views, soft light and private moments, the series feels like a little glimpse into a moment in Valeria’s world — elegant, intimate and effortlessly Parisian. Tengo Suerte
This is a story about luck. Sometimes luck means meeting the right person at the right moment. Sometimes it is being in the right place without knowing why. And sometimes one small encounter can mean more than it first seems. Photographer Frederick Fairytale met Dublin-born Lily Scanlan during Berlin Fashion Week, where she was walking in the SONNENKIND show. He immediately felt that there was something special about her energy and later asked her to shoot together at Holzmarkt 25 in Berlin. Lily’s boyfriend James Ryan came along, and what started as a shoot with Lily slowly became a story about the two of them. The post Tengo Suerte appeared first on C-Heads Magazine.

Spontaneous Summer Moments
Let’s meet Sharon, a muse who loves drawing and painting, working with acrylics, brush pens and sometimes even crystals on canvas. She loves moments by the sea and spending time with friends. Together with photographer Jan Kwan, she headed to a boathouse and a nearby beach in Hong Kong earlier this month. Between the sand, the heat and the little details of an ordinary beach day, they created a series full of personality, playfulness and that unmistakable feeling of a spontaneous summer day. Der Rhein. A river that runs through the heart of Europe and through the German city of Cologne. Along its banks, photographer Leonie Braun and jewellery designer Veronika Šola found the setting for Fluvial — a story shaped by movement, texture and permanence. “I feel like I almost have two versions of myself.” A Moment with Lynx
I often say about myself that I am everything and nothing. We’re all walking paradoxes, carrying entire spectrums of contradictions that somehow make peace with each other. Lynx speaks about something similar when she describes the two versions of herself: the one drawn to nature, the sea and a slower rhythm, and the other that finds freedom in performance, sensuality and self-expression — on stage, in the studio and in the city. There is softness and boldness, introspection and confidence, a desire to disappear into nature and, at the same time, to take up space. Perhaps we are never just one thing anyway. The Real Jobs are not here to fix you on their new EP
Yes, self-optimization is having its moment, if you can call it that. The internet is full of instructions on how to become a better version of yourself. Be healthier. Want less. Achieve more. Fix your sleep. Fix your habits. Be yourself — just preferably a slightly more successful, attractive and emotionally balanced version of it. Somewhere inside this endless machinery of improvement sits Becoming A Baddie, the new EP by Norwegian four-piece The Real Jobs. And thankfully, they are not particularly interested in fixing anything. The post The Real Jobs are not here to fix you on their new EP appeared first on C-Heads Magazine.

The Fig Tree Analogy or How We’ve Lost the Plot.
If you’re chronically online, or an avid reader, you may have heard about The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath, more specifically about the fig tree analogy. In it, Esther Greenwood, the main character, imagines her future life as a fig tree, each fig representing a possible life: a husband, children, a successful career, travels, education, writing… She sits beneath the tree, unable to choose which fruit to reach for. Eventually, she watches them wrinkle, blacken, and fall to the ground. The post The Fig Tree Analogy or How We’ve Lost the Plot. appeared first on C-Heads Magazine.

Pulling The Fool from a tarot deck is always a small confrontation with fate. The card depicts a figure balanced right at the edge of a cliff, gaze fixed on the sky, a single white rose in hand, about to step off into the abyss. It took Natrishka almost a year to feel ready for this series with photographer Charles Blouin. Born in Durban, South Africa, she grew up during apartheid, with South Indian heritage on her father’s side and a mother of mixed heritage. The idea for the shoot came during a difficult time in her life. After a breakup and miscarriage, Natrishka found herself struggling with her confidence and comparing herself to other women online. “With More Heart Than Head” — A Conversation with Juan Hansen on His Debut Album
Good timing is everything, but for Juan Hansen, it’s all about the right frequency: his debut album Ultrasonido is finally out in the world. The Argentinian artist has spent years moving, experimenting, playing, and allowing his sound to evolve along the way. The result is a little gem of a debut — wonderfully varied, shifting between moods and energies, made for the dancefloor but just as fitting for a road trip, a late summer afternoon, or simply getting lost in your own thoughts. Premiere: Between What Was and What Might Be – The Fourth Wall’s Memories of the Future
What happens to our dreams of the future when the future itself becomes harder to imagine? Perhaps we simply begin to imagine differently. Less in grand promises and perfect worlds and more in fragments: a place we would like to return to, a person we hope will still be there, a version of ourselves we haven’t met yet. The future has always been partly fiction anyway — something built from memory, longing and whatever we choose to believe might still be possible. The Waves Between Us — Tina Dico on Her New Single, Connection and a Changing World
The thought that we are all like one big ocean, constantly creating waves for each other, is a beautiful one. That each of us adds something to the movement, and that the waves we create eventually reach someone else. We see it in the small things — in our families, our relationships, in the way our moods, personalities, words and actions affect the people around us — and, in the end, on a much larger scale too. “Everything we send out creates some kind of movement in somebody else,” says Tina Dico. And this is also at the heart of her new single Surfing: the idea that we are all connected, riding each other’s energies while trying to keep our own balance.
