Good morning from Talbot Bay, Western Australia

A large sandstone lump rises out of the calm waters of the bay. It is a deep orange colour thanks to the rich iron oxide deposits within it. There is green vegetation scattered across the top of it and along its bottom third. The tide line is visible at its base among the mangroves. There is a small sandy beach and very likely many crocodiles 🐊

I just made another batch of my beefed-up ANZAC biscuits for a friend recovering from orthopaedic surgery I add almond meal to the mix, as well as slivered almonds and diced dried apricots and I add less sugar from the original recipe - Extra protein and fibre

ANZAC biscuits/cookies fresh out of the oven. They are caramel brown with slivered almonds, coconut, rolled oats and diced apricots visible on the exterior

Good morning from my garden

I have had terrible dermatitis on my hands at different times in my life and the two things I’ve found really great are Scholl’s Heel balm when the wounds are red and open, and then the Norwegian formula hand cream to combat the dryness. I think you can get both in Canada?

It’s Shinju Matsuri Festival time in Broome. Celebrating the diversity of cultures that tell the stories of this place

The memorial ‘The Nine Zeroes’ commemorates the Japanese bombing of Broome in March 1942. The aluminium silhouettes each represent the various groups of victims of the raid and the aftermath. Over 100 lives were lost in and around the airport and port of Broome that day. It’s Japanese residents, who were a big part of the pearling industry in Broome, were rounded up and interred in camps in Northam and SA after this event and war with Japan became a reality on home soil.

The colour and magnitude of scale of the Kimberley landscape is so impossible to describe or demonstrate in its totality. It is vast and harsh and brutal in its splendour
