Gosh her little face is the cutest!! 🥺 Took my little tux to the vet a few weeks ago (constant tummy issues - big cat food brands are constantly changing food formulations and her tummy is not happy about it). My vet recommended some probiotic mix-ins to help! Hopefully Chickadee feels better soon!

I talk a lot about the complexity of ocean conservation, and how real solutions can’t fit on a bumper sticker. Enter the Ocean Cleanup. Launched by a teenager giving a TED Talk, they claimed they were going to scoop all the plastic out of the ocean. 🧪🦑🌎

Why The Ocean Cleanup Hasn’t Solved the Plastic Pollution Crisis • The Revelator

Global problems are rarely solved by one person or invention. The Ocean Cleanup didn’t work, for the reasons experts said it wouldn’t. What can we learn from this?

Some people use sticker books to organize their collection... I will use them to justify drawing & making more stickers. That's right - after selling stickers for sooo long, I've FINally made sticker books!! And they're available right now! (I hope ya'll love these as much as I do!) [ #artshop ]

Hello Friends! There is a nationwide book banning bill in US House of Representatives. If you love queer people, books, librarians, teachers, or good ole fashioned freedom of speech, please CALL your rep today. More info in the pics, and you can read from this script: 5calls.org/issue/federa...

Slide 1: a blue graphic with an outline of the United States. Red and white text reads: Call. National Book Banning Bill Proposed in US House of Reps. Tell your rep: Vote no on H.R. 7661.

Slide 2: a blue and red graphic with white text that reads: House Republicans have introduced a bill to effectively grant the federal government decision-making power over what books make it into the library. H.R. 7661 is a national-level book banning bill that would ban any book that, according to the bill's language, "(ii) involves gender dysphoria or transgenderism." This means any book about a trans person or the trans experience would be banned from every public school in the United States.

Slide 3: a blue graphic with red and white text that reads: Call your reps. Tell them they must oppose this bill at every turn. It is egregiously unconstitutional, targets ideas based on ideological disapproval, and misleads parents and the public about the content of children's books. It does nothing to protect kids and will badly harm education. It will tie school material funding into knots and hurt anyone who is a library materials vendor, regardless of content. If you are a bookseller, librarian, or author, tell them your livelihood depends on the next generation of readers.

Though the American paddlefish was once common throughout the Mississippi River basin & the rivers of the Midwest, their populations have declined drastically in the last 150 years. This is due primarily because of overfishing, habitat destruction, dam construction, pollution, and poaching.

A (much-larger) close relative of the American Paddlefish was the Chinese Paddlefish - which was on IUCN's critically endangered list since the 1990s. However, it was last seen alive in the wild in 2003. Unfortunately, it was officially declared extinct in 2020.
