We had one of the bigger outlets in my hometown, and you could find some scorching deals there if you were patient. I ended up with a whole ass Pignose 7-100 amp for like 2 bucks. Thrift stores rule

My biggest client decided to go all in on AI slop and is now completely suspending operations. As such, if you know someone that is need of a writer, editor, content strategist, etc, please send them my way. My portfolio is up-to-date, my rates are affordable, and I can do damn near anything.

I feel this. Like I didn’t intend for my physicals to be overwhelming jazz and big band. I also don’t care that this has happened. I ain’t paying a premium for dad rock albums when Cab Calloway and Duke Ellington are there

I’ve got most of his collected works on vinyl and cassette now because no one buys them at the local thrift shops. Their loss, same with all the Herb Alpert stuff

My record collection at this point can be charitably be seen as someone who grew up after WW2. Still, Glenn Miller and Cole Porter slap

Replaced pressure pads on a trio of cassettes that are all older than me today and felt like a wizard when my manky copy of Bark at the Moon sounded like I just bought it.

They haven't come around in a hot minute, but I half debated rigging up something to throw pitch on solicitors at some point like a medieval lord

I had that with a pair of young Mormon missionaries that came by on their bikes like 12-13 years ago. Literally told them to fuck off because they woke our newborn midday during a rare and precious nap.

I have had folks read mine, and then immediately start in on a pitch. I legit called one's manager after they got a little too aggressive, and I haven't seen that roofing company in my area since.

I'd snag a RAT or a clone, like a King Rat, Splinter, whatever, on the cheap just to clear that 80s hard rock tone personally. I do need to snag a decent overdrive next, but I think I'm just gonna start building these as soon as I get settled after the move.

I did the same with my Mini, got it for like a hundred off with a new business account at the local Apple Store. Good value even with the price increase, but not what I’d be down to pay if I was looking to upgrade in the next 3-4 years

I did percussion with some classical training throughout my teens, transitioned to jazz for a bit, and played a full kit. Decided to switch up to guitar when I left for college and was mostly self-taught with a handful of books, online lessons, and mashing my face against tabs.

Drove 65 miles to try and dispose of some old gasoline at a local facility. Finally arrived at the intended place only to be told they are no longer taking donations. Overall, a good use of like 4 hours of my day. Side note, Inferno by BoC is solid.

To iterate on this, I've got an EP dropping at some point, I guess. Probably next weekish, while I'm contemplating moving across the country.

I adore Hudson Hawk. The whole Candy Bar Crew are highlights, especially Almond Joy and Butterfinger. James Coburn is a delight as well.

Flitting through my spam filter, which receives dozens of random solicitations from fake authors weekly to talk shop and get featured in exchange for a nominal fee. I usually junk these, but I had a hearty chuckle at this one. I doubt Murakami would cold email some random Southerner out of the blue.

That's what I'm telling my wife for why I need a vintage tube-driven turntable. I gotta listen to Miles Davis in style, and that style is 60s thrift store finds. I agree tho, noodly lo-fi music is the best. Been loving just combing through the 1080 to find whatever for Ridge Racer vibes.

I have no excuses of my own for that. I'm sure I'll find one, at some point. My only real score was finding a mint Sanyo cassette dubber on the cheap, but I legit just make noodly lo-fi music at this point that I haven't published in a year.

Low-key jealous, I've been on the hunt for a Sony or Akai stereo deck for the last year or so, and the prices are just a little too high for what I wanna spend. Even the grungy, nasty ones are going for a pretty penny.

Slowly but surely, I've been chipping away at a novel that I'm mostly proud of so far. Gotta fix continuity errors and shit, and big ups to @frogknightmusic.bsky.social for providing some delightful inspo music while I try to evoke the pastoral vibes.

I can just about guarantee that any art that has a passionate fanbase of a few hundred people is superior in most every way to any piece of art that is popular and successful but not particularly beloved (except by undiscerning "consumers")

Man, looking for extra work in this market is a bloodbath. If you or anyone you know is in the market for a contributing writer, don't hesitate to give me a look. I have flexible rates, an absurdly efficient work ethic, and I don't use LLMs to collate research or generate text. Somebody pay me, pls
