A simple framework: Use Meta to discover what people actually want. Use ASA to capture buyers actively searching. Use ASO to compound organic growth over time. Different channels. Different jobs.
Venn diagram showing the relationship between ASO, ASA, and Meta Ads for app growth. A green circle labeled “ASO” represents capturing existing demand. A blue circle labeled “ASA” represents capturing high-intent demand. A purple circle labeled “Meta Ads” represents creating, testing, and scaling demand. The three circles overlap in the center, marked with a gold star, illustrating how the channels work together as part of a complete user acquisition strategy for subscription apps.

Too many indie developers worry about how many apps are published to the App Store each day. Wrong problem. The App Store is a distribution mechanism. It's no longer a discovery tool. Growth comes from marketing outside the App Store, not from being listed inside it.

Making apps is like making music, you release album after album hoping 1 or 2 become hits.

Sometimes you have to accept the fact that the next feature probably won’t save your app. You can’t feature your way into higher MRR.

Even when people can cook, they still order in or go to restaurants. AI giving everyone the ability to design or code doesn’t replace designers or developers. It just raises the bar for what good looks like.

It doesn’t make sense to continue wanting something if you’re not willing to do what it takes to get it. If you don’t want to live the lifestyle, then release yourself from the desire. To crave the result but not the process, is to guarantee disappointment. James Clear

In 2026, building the app isn’t the hard part. The real bottlenecks are: • Distribution • Attention • Trust Code is cheap. Attention is expensive. Trust is everything.

👉🏾 Known known: we know we know. 👉🏾 Known unknown: we know we don’t know. 👉🏾 Unknown unknown: we don’t know we don’t know. Learning is the process of converting unknowns (whether known or unknown) to known knowns.

We used to worry about finding the right answers. Now, with AI, the real challenge is knowing how to ask the right questions.

Moved my icon over to Icon Composer today. Took a few hours, but worth it. Convert your current icon into SVG layers (btn 1–4), then experiment in Icon Composer until you find a combo that actually works. #buildInPublic #iOSDev #swiftui

Swift is a tool, not the job itself. Saying "I’m good with Swift, where can I work?" is like saying "I’m good with a hammer, where can I hammer?" The tool helps you do the job — but it isn't the job. #SwiftLang #iOSDev #SwiftUI #Swift

Hacked together a lil script that lets me write iOS code in Cursor. When I hit ⌘R it switches to Xcode, kicks off a new build (without xcodebuild's awful build times), and switches back to Cursor. Add this script, update your tasks.json, and pick a good key command. gist.github.com/mergesort/6e...
tell application "System Events"
	if (name of processes) contains "Xcode" then
		-- Check if Xcode is already the active/focused application
		if (name of first application process whose frontmost is true) is not "Xcode" then
			tell application "Xcode"
				activate

				delay 0.25 -- Wait for Xcode to become active
			end tell
		end if

		-- Simulate Command+R to run
		tell application "System Events"
			keystroke "r" using {command down}
		end tell

		-- Add a small delay to ensure the command is executed before switching apps
		delay 0.25

		-- Activate the Cursor app
		if (name of processes) contains "Cursor" then
			tell application "Cursor"
				activate
			end tell
		else
			-- Launch Cursor if it's not running
			do shell script "open -a 'Cursor'"
		end if
	end if
end tell{
