Comic work is progressing nicely, almost at the end of the sketching phase! Haven't got my hands on Raiders (or even a Switch 2, still debating it) but rest assured I am very enamored by Deep Cut's goofball antics with the Mechanic. I can't believe these goobers survived being stranded for a month.

Gotta Find Me a Future Part Two: Dawn (1/16) Without further ado, @theashemarie.bsky.social , @katiemonz.bsky.social , @lycaneum.bsky.social , and I present Gotta Find Me a Future Part Two: Dawn! #pearlina #GottaFindMeaFuture

Page 1 - COVER
A full page, full color comic cover.

The cover page depicts a backstage tent at the Grand Festival, where the idols are preparing for their Three Wishes performances. In the center of the image, Pearl’s hands are holding up a hinged compact mirror and an engagement ring. The bottom half of the mirror reveals half of Pearl’s face, smiling fondly. The top half of the mirror reflects Marina as she is putting in her earrings at a makeup vanity. She is dressed in her Grand Festival top and sweatpants, depicted from behind with her tentacles pulled up and out of the way so that her back is fully visible. Marina is lit from the front so that there is a slight glow bouncing off her skin. We can also see a bit of her face in the mirror in front of her.

The engagement ring is silver with small, turquoise stones.

The title and subtitle of the comic are inked in the top middle of the page, above the main illustration:

GOTTA FIND ME A FUTURE
Part Two: Dawn

Page 2

A grayscale comic page. It is a full page illustration of an ink droplet being shot toward the bottom of the page.

Page 3

A grayscale comic page with three panels. The ink droplet travels across the page before landing in a splatter on the ground.

Page 4
A grayscale comic page depicting two scenes from Grand Fest. The first panel is a crowd reaction shot of multiple inklings, octolings, and jellyfish reacting to the battle they're watching.

The second, bigger panel depicts the commentator booth. Two commentators, an inkling and a jellyfish, are looking up at off-screen action with microphones on the table before them. Behind them, the media crew of the event are shown in front of multiple monitors.

Haunted by the narrative :). I realize a lot of you probably have no idea what's going on; I'm just playing dolls with my wife in Tomodachi life with our pokemon gijinka OCs and we're kinda starting to form a big overarching story around it all... I am unwell.

🧡SQUEEE💙 ( #splatoon #Pearlina )

A sketch page of Pearl and Marina, colored with highlighters and being sickly sweet. Left is a big sketch of them giggling together, and to the top left of them, is a cat sticker with drawn on ribbon, blush, and bunny ears. Top right is them sitting on the couch, and Pearl courtly kisses Marina’s hand. Bottom right is them simply talking to eachother, and next to that is another cat sticker, that’s looking at a fish.

2 sketches of Marina Ida: the one on the left posed like that one Jojo Higashikata, where she has her hands up that frames her face, behind her is a red highlighter colored checkered patterns, to the right is her posing a bit close off with stars around her.

down by the bay where the antelopes play, it was a wonderful wintery day. Or rather, it’s pearl and marina sitting on the couch with fairy lights around them snuggled up for holiday festivity. Marina got her hot coca and pearl got a blanket.

Which One Do You believe in?" This was only intended to be a simple image with the two of them in their unused outfits (personal favourites btw ☝️) from the various concept drawings. #splatoon #splatoon3 #offthehook #pearlsplatoon #marinasplatoon #smollusk #fanart #videogame

Further expanding this into a full blown "wallpaper" (it doesn't meet up the apropriate size to fit in for the current day monitor, but you could still technically work around this if you could) thing was not part in the script. The process was slow if you didn't figure out by now. I could only count the times I kept coming back to both add things and polish the said things as I desired. That's not to say that I didn't enjoy doing that at all btw. I'm very much happy with the end results actually coming together when I wasn't certain.
As to why I did this... I dunno, I was feeling nostalgic after stumbling upon some images where the stock renders of some characters from various popular series (although it was from Shaman King in my case) would be pasted onto those vortex/web styled backgrounds that have no rhyme or reason other than to make that look cool... and it sure did have an effect on me. I think there are some old fansites or even dA that still has these, you'll just need to look hard enough though.
Enjoy having to think about that philosophical question!
Give out some comments here if you want to talk about it or even fave it if you like it.

Splatoon belongs to Nintendo.
This artwork is made by me.
