Culvert becomes habitat. This has a concert arch wall encasing the ribbed metal culvery. Concrete appears ivory and pink in the morning light. Possibly an 8th of culvert has gravel dirt and water in it.
On the left side are some leaves of the invasive "Japanese Knotweed." Some call it bamboo. The plant is not native to the northeastern United States. Very hard to kill and eliminate without terrible chemicals.
On the right side are some tall rushes, evidence of native cat tails, jewel weed, and other plants.
The center has two large stones in front, perhaps four or five feet wide.

Grapevine was choking a tree. Last year I pulled it down and while still green and flexible, twisted it into a hoop shape.
Each season I consider decorating the hoop. Autumn of this year I did. When outside if a few bits of branches are down, they come with me. Or large leaves.
These leaves were first, smaller oak that came down in storms a week ago. They have faded dusty green and are drying out.
A few days later some burgundy leaves joined. They too were oak. A chestnut oak with yellow were added as well.
Today, a few large grape leaves, a few red and scarlet three pointed maple.
As they dry and fall I place them under pumpkins on the porch.
The photograph is focused centrally on the wreath on our door.
The wreath fills almost the top half of the door.

Interesting fungus! The angle is a little off. They were sort of sraight. The stalk of the toadstool or mushroom is an ombre of orange red with the lightest color at the base near the mulch, which is where I suspect the fungus came from since I have never seen anything like it locally.
The base is thicker, maybe a half inch in diameter.
The top of the fungus looks like someone covered it with milk chocolate. And the fungus does appear quite phallic.

Close up of fungus on tree bark. The fungus looks like blooms with petals. The light edges appear almost white. The quickly darken to deep brown black. There is some bark visible. A few bits of greenery.

Maple tree is completely hollow and marked withan orange x. Yet the tree has green leaves. Somehow, it is getting enough water and nutrients to keep making oxygen.
The girth was greater than I could reach three times around, yes, short arms.
The picture shows just how dead and hollow the interior of the tree appears. The void is at least four feet deep and another two or three feet above.

Summer walk. Looking up into the "youngish" green woods. Light filters through.
Multiple tree stands are light gray. The canopy of trees is a mixture of greens, depending on the amount of sunlight hitting them.
Sky appears nearly white, was bright blue.
The ground cover is low and green.

Outside the temperatures a lowering and the fungi are growing.

Leaf detritus, new growth is lighter in color. The star of the show is the mushroom, pale ivory, in the top third of the photo, near the center.

Behind the mushroom are large barked roots above ground and plunging deeper.

We have been in drought most of the summer. Lakes and creeks are low.

A recent storm had this little stream singing. The water is clear and runs through the cente4 of the photo. Tiny waterfalls in a few places.

On the left side some larger brush. On the right side. Sharp sledge grass.
Crickets were singing and cicada's buzzed in the sun.

Meterological Autumn began a few days ago. A field of goldenrod and ragweed with various small trees.

Mostly a green scene with pops of golden color. A tiny bit of blue sky toward the top of the image.

A tip of a finger at the top points to part of a stone labyrinth. A smaller scale than Chatre in France.

The pavers are grey to outline where not to walk and a yellowy orange to guide you to the center.

This is open year round.

Offerings of labyrinth walkers on a stone. The large grey stone underneath is flat. Smaller stones are placed on it as are a variety of leaves and blossoms. A small rose hip too?

One large flat purple flower is next to a tight pin3cone. In the Eastern US, the cones do not require fires to open. Toward the center are red, yello, green, brown and yellow leaves. Most appear to be varieties of Maples.

Painted stones are a thing here. This is a picture of a heart shaped small stone, smaller than the leaf of English Ivy below in the picture. The stone sits on twisted above ground roots that have various shades of grey and some lichen of very pale green.
The red stone has white dots on top outlining the heart. There are words painted in yellow, which were too small for me to read.
Behind the stone is a background of tree which is covered with a deep green moss, more moss than bark shows.
The heart is in the lower center.

A touch of blue sky and a brick wall background, foreground is a large head of a sunflower. Bright gold petals seem to turn orange as the petals meet the stamens which are orange rusty color. The texture of the center is geometric and transitions from orange to yellow to green.
Two bees are in the lower portion of the head of the sunflower, making life possible for us all.

Harvest time is coming. Tall stand of corn for fodder, over six feet tall, is in the shaded forground. As the image goes to the background the sun is on the corn. Yellow gold orange tassels glow.
A copse of trees is behind the field, just visible over the corn on the right side and into the center, fading low into the field.
Behind that, the morning clouds rise upward to the sky, after visiting the earth for the night. They are a line of white gray fog.
In the back of the photo is a hazy range of hills or mountains, depending on what you think. They are purple. Appearing on the left side and fading down into the fog.
A tiny bit of very pale blue sky finishes the image in the top right.

Growing up there were so many family farms and barns. As I have aged, the way of life has been dying out. When I get a chance to photograph an old barn or outbuilding I do.

Late Summer creek. The left and right sides have greens of various shades of Summer. Coming to the center of the landscaped image, there are large rocks. The forground shows the clear water to shallow brown green algae that makes the rocks very slippery. Slightly beyond the centerpoint there are two people in the stream and one on shore. A small stream with higher than usual water. Six areas of white water around drops and rocks. The banks are edged with stones and small growth green ground cover.

The same small stream as the first picture, in a quieter area. Looking through the woods and dead leaves over a pile of medium sized rocks, one moss covered and green. Out to the stream, the water moves fast and has some ruffling, but not white water. Across to the other side of the stream, wider here than the first picture. Some dead leaves and brush and larger trees are slightly visible.

Mushrooms looking like tiny parasols with auburn and white stripes. Growing in an old maple stump which rots. Some bits of green grass. The two newer mushrooms at the bottom are a more yellow orange shade.

Rotting old sugar maple stump is home to a group of mushrooms. The middle of the picture upward are older mushrooms, looking like parasols. The bottom quarter of the image has two newer mushrooms. The newer mushrooms are not as well defined in black and white.

The older ones have clearer stripes

Hot pink Dogwood blossoms in the foreground with more blooms and branches behind them. Green leaves show and deep emerald green grass.

Dogwood blooms have four petals. The petals shape is a fat flat-ish. A slight curl at the end. They are rather shaped like an egg with a flat kind of end.

The stamins in the middle of each bloom are greenish closer to the petals and bright yellow toward the top.

The petals are whitish toward the stamina with streaks of white and pink deepening and darkening toward the middle of each petal, then slightly lightening toward the top of each petal.

Black and white of the hot pink Dogwood. There are five blooms in the foreground. Behind them are branches. Leaves and blooms of the rest of the tree. Grass is in the lower portion of the photo.

The pink appears darker Grey black. The white parts of the petal are more Grey in tone. The texture of the petals seems more evident, almost like brushstrokes in oil or acrylic rather than watercolor.
