Jan Mayen Island (Norway). A tiny dot in the ocean not many get to. We were lucky, often island can't be seen in mist/fog and seas too rough to land. After hike up to view glaciated slopes of Mt Beerenberg (last erupted 1995) we got zodiac tour with up-close puffin views. #ArcticAdventure

A last hike in Svalbard: landing at Sundneset and a hike to tundra, lakes and rocky outcrops. Lots of signs of polar bears, reindeer - great care taken that there were none around for us to disturb. Flocks of barnacle geese and eider ducks. #ArcticAdventure

Pauline Hanson and Donald Trump both exploit voters’ fury. But her popularity is rising while his is at a low | Bruce Wolpe

Both resonate with people who feel the government is ignoring them and is not delivering for them. Voters want solutions, and they place their trust in the leader they think will produce the desired result. Pauline’s One Nation. Trump’s Make America Great Again. The parallels are obvious. Most of cave paintings in Lascaux are around 20,000 yrs old; the Font de Gaume paintings (less dramatic) are from 16-17,000 yrs ago. Yet in Australia Aboriginal artists were drawing and painting in similar vein up to 40,000 yrs earlier. Gives you great respect for the world's oldest culture.
