TIRED: Why was it the rock and roller cola wars that pushed Billy Joel to the point where he couldn't take it anymore 😂 WIRED: Why did Billy Joel get so emotional about the death of relatively obscure Spanish philosopher George Santayana?

Thinking again about the "sock hop" I had to go to in 6th grade where I just sat on a bench the whole time while other kids sock-hopped. It was the only school dance I ever went to. This is feeling kinda like a Rosetta stone for my life at this point

I love Game Changer. I got into it before Taskmaster but the two shows are on the same plane in my mind. The recent seasons have been insanely ambitious because the company has money now

I can't exactly blame the MAHA crowd for losing their minds over how mushy sliced bread is now. It's definitely a problem

I bet I got it from the insane guy doing the paper shredding event at work who shook my hand in between telling me about asteroid conspiracy theories and his theory of economics

Ok that’s a faint but visible line so I appear to have Covid in 2026. What are you even supposed to do when this happens now?

Reggie Dinkins fun but I don't like high production values in comedy. TV comedies should look like how 30 Rock looked in 2006 on avi files.

Steinbeck was such a hack that no less a literary dervish than Harold Bloom admitted that John Ford's Grapes of Wrath was better than the novel

I expected The Innocents to be somewhat bowdlerized, but having the governess fully kiss the kid on the mouth is actually something like reverse bowdlerization (turning fucked up subtext from the book into text)

We’re living in a post-literate society so it’s possible that I’m the only person in this Music Box audience for The Innocents who has actually read The Turn of the Screw. Though to be fair I just finished reading it like an hour ago

I used to think those warnings about not removing tags on pillows and mattresses still applied to me as the owner of the pillow. I literally resisted impulses to remove tags because I imagined Bed Bath and Beyond's secret police would immediately knock my door down.

Gremlins 2, as delightful as it is, also features two of the most ubiquitous comedy cliches of the '80s and '90s: (1) the racist stereotype that Japanese tourists in the US are constantly, obsessively taking photos, and (2) the odd notion that NYC suffered a major infestation of street mimes.

Tony Randall gremlin monologue about bringing civilization to the gremlins raises some interesting questions about who has the right to self-determination. For instance, should gremlins have it
