This weekend, we hosted members of the FBI Citizens Academy Alumni Association. The group received a behind the scenes tour of the airport. They were also offered presentations from airport leadership, @tsa.gov and FBI.

A solemn dignified transfer was held at BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport today to welcome home U.S. Army Pfc. Owen Norris. Pfc. Norris, of Marriottsville, MD was killed in 1944 during WWII at the West Loch disaster. The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency recently identified his remains.
The BWI Marshall Airport Fire and Rescue Department offered a ceremonial water salute to welcome the American Airlines flight carrying the remains of Pfc. Norris.Several family members along with many airport personnel and other supporters attended the solemn dignified transfer today.Dozens of personnel were on hand for the ceremony. Our Runway 10-28 Rehabilitation project remains on time with only a couple weeks of work remaining. Crews have worked around the clock to mill down and rebuild the entire runway, including its intersection with Runway 15R-33L. Learn more at BWIairport.com/RunwayRehab.

From 2 destinations on launch day to approximately 75 domestic and international destinations today. Happy Anniversary to Southwest Airlines! 33 years ago today, the airline began serving BWI passengers with service to Chicago and Cleveland.

We held a 9/11 remembrance ceremony this morning with the BWI Marshall Airport community to honor those lost in the events that transpired 25 years ago today. The program featured a wreath-laying ceremony, the playing of Taps and the reading of names of each Marylander lost on that day.

Our Operations and Maintenance team recently hosted a U.S. Air Force group based at Joint Base Andrews. The partnership provided both teams with valuable information related to snow removal, pavement maintenance and overall airport operations.

The BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport community came together this evening to honor & welcome home 1st Lt. Walter Bateman, a Maryland native and WWII pilot killed in 1943. The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency recently identified his remains.

The Thomas A. Dixon, Jr. Aircraft Observation Area has long been a favorite spot for those wanting to watch planes as they arrive. Along Dorsey Road, it is popular among both families and planespotters. A roadside marker to mark our 75th anniversary was added last year.

TRAFFIC: A water main break on MD-170 is creating delays approaching both the airport terminal and rental car facility. Ramp from EB I-195 to SB MD-170 is closed. Delays to about MD-295, including ramp from SB 295 to EB I-195. Rental car shuttles are operating on a detour.

Don't be that person parked along on the shoulder waiting for an arriving passenger. Our Cell Phone Lot is free. Next to our Daily Garage, with convenient access to the terminal and I-195.

Celebrating nearly 40 years! BWI Marshall Airport Fire and Rescue Driver/Operator Don Ell retired last week after joining the department in July 1987. After providing countless water salutes to others, he was honored with a water salute on his final day. Best wishes, Don!

Congrats to Greenmount for winning the @capitals.bsky.social Baltimore Street Hockey Tournament on Friday! A fun time was had as 12 teams competed throughout the day at Madison Square Recreation Center.
