Really great first half. Felt for Nunez who had been class right up till the slip for the equalizer. Second half was clearly not good. We could feel robbed by various decisions but reality is Man Utd were back to being a very strong prem side and we weren’t. Onwards and upwards.

10 days till a summer break in Suffolk and I am dragging myself to that finish line. Year-end to sort before then along with some more Autumn conference prep, a couple of London trips, a couple of Manchester trips, an exec planning meeting and board member shortlisting.

Fingers crossed you are right and that we land the right player(s). Talk of fringe midfields going (Humphrey’s and Taylor), Matusiwa struggling to be match fit, doubts about Nunez temperament and consistency and I’m nervous! Defence looks good.

I’m not suggesting we sign him to save money - I’m suggesting we sign him so we have enough midfielders and with premier pedigree. At the moment we have barked up all sorts of midfield trees with no success. I also think Cajuste is better suited to the prem than the Champ as his time with us told.

But he looked great in the prem. We desperately need some depth in the midfield and keep talking about spending 15m plus on experienced prem players when we turned one down at a third of that.

As the panic for a for and strong midfielder grows for ITFC I’m increasingly pissed off we didn’t take Cajuste. He knows the club, has prem experience, would have cost far less than alternatives we are now looking at. Let’s go back now and snap him up.

I don’t know what he has in mind. He clearly wants to push some specific HE priorities to devolved communities, perhaps with funding arrangements/number caps etc to incentivise. I don’t necessarily mean he will/ should replicate the Canadian model but there’s learning from it that’s interesting.
