Oath of office at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. Trump took the same oath. And was lying through his teeth.

For many years I have felt a compelling vision of Jesus' "Kingdom of God" is central to an authentic Christian faith and witness. Five years ago I set out to design a measure of the Kingdom and place it on a national survey. substack.com/home/post/p-...

Time to stone the RNC folks for blasphemy? From the video trotted out: "God said....I need a shepherd to mankind who will never leave nor forsake them." That language is reserved for Jesus & Jesus alone. Good thing we're not a theocracy. We don't have blasphemy laws...yet.

Family are sending me videos of Christian manosphere types blaming everything on Muslims again. As a reminder: 1) the US played a big role in radicalizing Islam in the 20th century, and 2) 85-90% of victims of Islamic terrorism are...Muslim. It's all a ploy to keep you focused on the wrong targets.

I joined some colleagues on a study examining associations b/t childhood abuse & spiritual struggles as an adult (doubting God, etc.). Findings suggest regular yoga practice may help mitigate some of the associations. This points to the value of embodied practices (i.e., yoga) for spiritual health.

Integrity is telling the truth even if it hurts you. I have one student who argued that by being honest in admitting to not doing a required reading they should not be penalized *b/c they were honest.* No. That's not how it works. You're honest, AND you accept the consequence. That's integrity.

It's becoming more and more clear just how much of a failure evangelical discipleship programs have been over the past 40 years. Like, we're tossing out softballs on basic decency, morality, idolatry - and white evangelicals are whiffing every time. Like, spin and fall on your ass level of whiffing.

Trump is burning capital. Not just financial capital, but social capital, diplomatic capital, intellectual capital. Capital that other, qualified people, spent decades building, which he "inherited" and instantly threw in the toilet. He takes other people's work, leverages it, and loses it.
