iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

Without a cleaner way to separate ordinary nudity—fine art or otherwise—from vulgar, explicitly adult, or sexually exhibitionistic content, Bluesky risks becoming known mainly as a porn site: a place where people post things they can’t share elsewhere.

At the same time, there’s no hard-and-fast rule about what counts as vulgar—or even where the line is between fine-art nudity and sexual content. >>>

The problem is that the automatic labeling system isn’t very sophisticated and tends to over-label things. I’ve had to appeal almost every post just to get the “Explicit or Sexual Content” label removed. >>>

I guess it comes down to balancing freedom and restraint. Bluesky allows a wide range of posts while using labels to separate regular content from suggestive, nude, adult, or graphic material. Personally, I think that’s a better approach than Instagram’s heavy-handed one. >>>

The model is gorgeous—agreed! And brave, too, posing nude with such a slippery creature. One can only imagine how much instinctive reaction or natural fear she would have to overcome.

Following its publication in Vogue, the image went on to sell around two million poster copies, many more than those 8x10s😉

You were probably right. It was said that it took nearly two hours to coax the snake into the right position. Avedon must have run through many 8×10s - a session said to have wasted both film and time until the very last moment.

One salient feature of this picture is the python’s tongue extending outward to touch Nastassja Kinski’s face—what a decisive moment to have captured!

Agree totally — she was such a great model to work with: highly skilled, engaging and professional. I was lucky to catch her at the tail end of her modeling career.
