"Feminine clothing as a first aid to comedy has its drawbacks," according to Buster Keaton. "If the skirts are too narrow, you may get laughs and take a chance on breaking your neck; if they're too wide, you can do any sort of acrobatic trick and still fall short of comedy," explains the comedian.

This Day in Buster...September 11, 1921 The Times Herald prints that during the production of "The Saphead," it cost Buster Keaton $8.60 for a shave. Soap lather could not be used, as the razor would remove Buster's makeup. Whip cream was used as a substitute.
