it’s been a day since they “ended support” and my fitbit app still works, so hopefully they meant something different.

i just bought a 2015 macbook pro for only $25, and this thing is amazing. it was listed as for parts, which is why it was so cheap, but it works perfectly, all it needed was a boot drive!

a 2015 macbook pro running mac os x mojave off of a 64 gb sd card (since this photo was taken before i bought the charger or the ssd adapter, whoops!)

damn you spotify for killing off the older versions, i’m gonna have to find a new modded version after using the same one for the past 3 years :(

000

the bushfactory™ @bushfactory.neocities.org · 05/04/2026

it blends right in with older apps, i think i did a (somewhat) good job.

an old ios screenshot i stole from some random guy’s website and edited to have the icon, it’s in the bottom right corner, and i capitalized the s in “sky” because it makes it feel a bit older (can’t explain why, but it does make a difference.)

i got a bit bored, so here’s what the bluesky app icon could’ve looked like if it launched 14 years ago.

a version of the bluesky app icon with a shiny gradient on the top half and a butterfly with an inner white glow above a blue gradient background, it basically just looks like the old ios app icon style.

rip to appadvice, i used to go there to download old ios app icons since their old articles still had them up somehow, and now they’re gone!

to celebrate the 3-year anniversary of me getting it, my switch’s blue joy-con battery started expanding, how lovely.

goodwill prices are actually outrageous now, i definitely wanna pay $30 for a camera that doesn’t even have film made for it anymore!

a polaroid spectra system camera, for $29.99, dated march 11, 2026. a little bit of a side note, my aunt bought a spectra 2 at a goodwill a few years ago for like $7 and gave it to me because they hadn’t made the film in like 4 years, that’s the most i’d pay for one of these! i also buried it on the bottom shelf to stop anyone from getting screwed over.

000

the bushfactory™ @bushfactory.neocities.org · 22/03/2026

good news, i fixed my boombox (the wheels were just a little bit tilted, that’s it, I took it apart for no reason…), and it can play tapes again! bad news, it can’t play CDs anymore, whoops!

000

the bushfactory™ @bushfactory.neocities.org · 22/03/2026

okay, i finally found my old bootleg walkman (which still somehow works) and tested it, the first 40-ish seconds are really garbled but the rest is fine, MY GARBAGE TAPE LIVES ANOTHER DAY!

YAY WE SUCCESSFULLY BULLIED MICROSOFT INTO SUBMISSION 🥳🥳

Windows Insider Program Email:
Our commitment to Windows quality
Hello Windows Insiders,
I want to speak to you directly, as an engineer who has spent his career building technology that people depend on every day. Windows touches more people's lives than almost any technology on Earth.
Every day, we hear from the community about how you experience Windows. And over the past several months, the team and I have spent a great deal of time analyzing your feedback. What came through was the voice of people who care deeply about Windows and want it to be better.
Today, I'm sharing what we are doing in response.
Here are some of the initial changes we will preview

• More taskbar customization, including vertical and top positions
Repositioning the taskbar is one of the top asks we've heard from you. We are introducing the ability to reposition it to the top or sides of your screen, making it easier to personalize your workspace.
• Integrating Al where it's most meaningful, with craft and focus
You will see us be more intentional about how and where
Copilot integrates across Windows, focusing on experiences that are genuinely useful and well-crafted.
As part of this, we are reducing unnecessary Copilot entry points, starting with apps like Snipping Tool, Photos, Widgets and Notepad.
• Reducing disruption from Windows Updates
Receiving updates should be predictable and easy to plan around, so we're giving you more control. This includes the ability to skip updates during device setup to get to the desktop faster, restart or shut down without installing updates and pause updates for longer when needed, all while reducing update noise with fewer automatic restarts and notifications.
Faster and more dependable File Explorer
File Explorer is one of the most used surfaces in Windows. Our first round of improvements will focus on a quicker launch experience, reduced flicker, smoother navigation and more reliable performance for everyday file tasks.
• More control over widgets and feed experiences
Widgets should feel helpful and relevant, not distracting or overwhelming. We're introducing quieter defaults, more control over when and how widgets appear, and improved personalization for the Discover feed.

Performance
We are focusing on making Windows 11 more responsive and consistent, so performance feels smooth and reliable.
Over the course of the year, we're improving system performance, app responsiveness, File Explorer and the Windows Subsystem for Linux, helping Windows stay fast as you move between apps and workloads.
Improving system performance: Reducing resource usage by Windows to free up more performance for what you're doing.
• Faster and more responsive Windows experiences, with early improvements already delivering launch time reductions in apps like File Explorer
• Improved memory efficiency, lowering the baseline memory footprint for Windows and freeing up more capacity for the apps you run
• More consistent performance, even under load, so apps stay responsive throughout the day
More fluid and responsive app interactions: Reducing interaction latency by moving core Windows experiences to the WinUl3 framework.
• Improving the shared Ul infrastructure that Windows experiences rely on, reducing interaction latency and overhead at the platform level
• Faster responsiveness in core Windows experiences like the Start menu, by moving more experiences to WinUI3

okay, apparently it’s an issue with adobe cs6, it installs an incompatible driver and grenades the whole thing, i’m still blaming windows 11 though

i actually really like that new macbook, it looks pretty cool and you don’t need to sell a kidney to buy it. but i’m probably not gonna get one cause i’d rather choke and die than deal with that tumor known as “tahoe”, if they’d released it a year sooner i would’ve bought one by now

it’s so obvious that the reason adobe wants to kill off animate is because there’s no way to shove ai in it. there’s a million pre-existing ai models for generating images and videos, but there’s none for flash’s specific breed of vector animation.

after dealing with a 16-year-old hard drive for too long i finally got the cheapest 512gb ssd i could find and it is AMAZING. my pc boots in like 30 seconds now instead of 5 minutes, and it just runs SO much faster. the best part is that my dumpster pc got its hard drive back, so now i have 2 pcs!

an sk hynix ssd with 512gb of storage, i love this thing man.

after a lot of digging, i managed to find my favorite chrome extension from like 10 years ago! it was a recreation of the windows 8 start menu but as a chrome new tab window, and i'm surprised that it still kinda works!

an older version of chrome running "new metrotab", i used to have it on my computer like 10 years ago since i was using windows 7 and i wanted to try a newer version of windows, and this extension is probably the most accurate recreation of the windows 8 start menu.

it’s a paperwhite 3 if you care, and i have taken this thing with me everywhere i went after i got it. the whole concept of an e-ink display is super cool, and it’s nice to finally have one. i also have my music stuff on it. this thing is basically just a pdf reader to me, but it’s an amazing one.

i just got a kindle for only $28, it’s my first one ever and i absolutely love it. it came with a scratch on the backlight, which is why it was so cheap, but i don’t mind it. i have all of my repair manuals on it, this thing is awesome when i need to take something apart.

a kindle paperwhite 3 sitting on my desk, the backlight is on so you can see 2 little scratches on it.

apple released a new web ui for the app store and i noticed something odd, apple's now applying their own liquid glass-ification tools to app icons that were already uploaded without liquid glass. they have the same url, except apple's modified version has "ia" added to the image name.

i got bored, so i started working on a userscript that would bring back some of the old amazon website's design elements, and i got the old ratings bar style to work! it looks really weird with the new-style stars, but i'm working on changing those too.

the customer reviews rating screen, but with the old style of bar graph. they're very 3d-looking compared to the flat, orange stars above it.

i got a little bit bored, so i made my windows 10 look almost exactly like windows 8.1. unpopular opinion, windows 8.1 was the last good-looking windows version, windows 10 is way too bland and colorless, and windows 11 is just horrific.

a windows 10 install but it looks almost exactly like windows 8.1, it has ms paint with a poorly drawn smiley face in it, command prompt, a sticky note that says "hello", a notepad windows saying "(THIS IS NOT WINDOWS 8.1)", a UAC window for command prompt, file explorer, and the about windows screen open. it has all the windows 10 version numbers and everything in it, but everything else is nearly identical.

010

the bushfactory™ @bushfactory.neocities.org · 22/08/2025

bad news, most of them WEREN'T still there, i was only able to get 170 of my photos out of the possible 1,000. that's all i'm gonna be able to get, because i don't know how the hell to recover photos off my google pixel.

the bushfactory™ @bushfactory.neocities.org · 21/08/2025

macs (for some dumb reason) leave little turd files on flash drives with every file you open, i searched my hard drive for them and i found 38,643 of them! that's 154 MEGABYTES taken up for no damn reason. thanks, apple.

25 of these files, they're made for each file you open, and their name is the regular file's name with "._" added in front of it. i added some text to the right of this screenshot, which says "there were 38,643 of these damn files on my hard drive. that's this image times 1,543. holy shit apple."
