I took a few thousand museum artifacts and processed them using a NASA algorithm that brings out details in stone and cave art. Results are wild. curios.jairus.ca/dstretch-mus...

Two copies of a torn, brownish papyrus side by side. On the left, the museum photograph: dull purple-brown with pale, faded roundels. On the right, the same papyrus after a DStretch decorrelation stretch, in pink, yellow, purple and teal, where the design shows clearly: large roundels with figures inside, plant and flower motifs between them, and borders. It's a Coptic weaver's template for a tunic.

A cracked, weathered clay jar split down the middle. On the left, the museum photograph: beige and brown with faint traces of orange and turquoise. On the right, the same jar after a DStretch decorrelation stretch, in mint green and dark red: a band of triangles below the rim, a striding animal between large rosettes, and a row of small rosettes near the base.

This is so cool, Jairus! The glazed pottery is especially stunning when dstretched.

An abstract watercolour painting of a cat head on a pinky-purple background dotted with stars. Its fur is mottled purple, blue, and hot pink. Its large eyes are mismatched; one is magenta and the other is purple. This cat is basking under the glow of the universe.

An abstract watercolour painting of a cat head on a blue background. Its fur is pale brown with darker speckles. Its large eyes are blue with black pupils. Its mouth is narrow and curled up at the corners. There is a small notch in its left ear. This cat looks like it’s up to something sneaky!

Bready-button close up:

A close up photograph of a round hole in the center of a loaf of bread.

Tara Gibbs 🍁 @burntflowers.bsky.social · 09/10/2026

Made some bread today and a huge air pocket formed dead centre during the final rise. I popped it before baking and now my loaf has a belly button.

A round loaf of bread with a burnished brown crust. The crust has a circular hole at the very top that looks like a belly button.

I'll also be keeping up the #rollandpaint randomness by rolling to choose the colour palette for the paintings from a list that includes monochromatic, complementary, etc.

Remember these blob frogs? I’m going to spend October painting blob cats as part of @caseformaking.bsky.social #colortober! The first one will be posted later today. www.taragibbs.com/galleries/fr...

Frogs, Primarily

Exploring randomly selected trios of red, blue, and yellow paints by painting frogs, primarily. Each frog shares at least one paint in common with each frog above, below, left, and right of it.

I’m betting the orange one is having a hard time saying “artificial” so changing it to “super” was done to make him look less like a crumbling heap of dementia.
