it may sound unfair to expect the player to deal with random entities that can kill them, but most entity mechanics are like simple puzzles, minor obstacles, or an existing non-anomalous enemy with a different weakness. it’s a matter of paying attention to their behaviour.

it’s entirely random what happens and when, but certain entities can change or even disappear from the game entirely depending on how you deal with them.

usually, you’ll only see one anomalous entity at a time, but there are circumstances where multiple can appear at once. anomalous events can also happen concurrently with an entity, like the lights going out, or some distant alarm blaring.

most anomalies can appear almost anywhere in the bunker. a few are location-based or time-gated, and more dangerous or complicated ones become available as you progress the story.

characters like yara are few and far-between, and are exclusively for people i’m close with. sometimes these ideas didn’t manifest as characters, but rather as anomalies in the exploration.

it’s been so much fun (albeit very finicky) adding new features to this thing to make programming even EASIER. you can set what line to start at, pick from selected random lines with defined chances OR pick a RANGE of lines to choose from with an equal chance!!!

AND THAT’S NOT ALL! the dialogue will even handle errors! you won’t get softlocked in a random bit of dialogue with this baby! it’ll let you know by itself that something’s gone wrong and let you leave the dialogue!

it can extract dialogue from a text file. ANY text file with the correct formatting. once i make a tool that’ll automatically format instances of dialogue for me, all i’ll need to do is format the rest! still a monumental task, but slightly quicker than it would be otherwise!

bosses can now move, dictated by bullet patterns. bosses can also punch you. (it’ll make sense soon.) plus a TON of other modifiers for bullet patterns! like global wind and local bullet pushing! i hope it’ll all make for an interesting fight when you get to check it out!

i feel like this design takes an appropriate middle-ground between his body and his identity. he’s never really taken the time to think about who he wants to be beyond being a man because of everything happening around him. i think this is a good representation of that.
