I would say Nazi expansionism was colonialism actually. Turning Belgium into a protectorate is not colonialism and it is ridiculous to imply as much. But, in order for the USSR to be a big bad, you have to fudge the numbers somehow to ignore Asias history of colonization, specifically under Japan.
