I study bumble bee movements and habitats to uncover ways to protect these incredible pollinators and ensure their survival. What’s your favourite thing about bumble bees? 🐝

A bumble bee nest! Photo taken through slats in their colony box. There are multiple gynes (new queens) in this view alone!

Did you know we can track the movements of bumble bees using radio technology? This research reveals fascinating insights into their behaviour across different landscapes and helps guide vital conservation efforts. 🧪🌎🐝

When you see a bumble butt, they are not asleep. They are in fact trying to reach sweet nectar deep in the flower. Despite what an annoyingly popular meme would have you believe🐝

🐝 Bumble bees are pollination champs, buzzing from flower to flower! They're social insects with 250+ species worldwide. Did you know they perform "buzz pollination" by flexing their muscles very fast to vibrate flowers and release pollen? 🌼 #bees #bumblebees

Heyy! I'm Amanda and I radio-tag bumble bees to study the impacts of environmental stressors on their movement. Currently I'm based out of the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada.
