Well, I'm so used to my entire life disappearing in an instant that it doesn't really affect me any more. #objectober #bfdi #osc

you can also just take the vow without the whole candle element (or skip the vow and just burn the fancy candle, sparkist practices are generally played kinda fast n loose) but depending on who you ask people Will think that is capital w Weird

its supposed to be a day of introspection, investigation your own inferiority and your relationship to the world around you, the path your walking, all that. alot of people dont really bother with that though and just take it as a chance to take a day off work n such lol

you press the first of the melted wax to your forehead (the crown is preferred but they dont like the wax getting in their switch) to mark yourself as actively taking the vow, then peel it off after and melt it again in a big unrelated celebration next day. mp3 smeared their mark but its ok <3

the main part is the vow of silence that you take for the day, which you measure by burning a fancy candle that supposed to last 24 hours-ish. the particular candle is actually burned for more symbolic reasons, its just used to measure for convenience. ppl go nuts with their candle designs sometimes

Rambling about it for a sec cause i just feel like talking abt: most ppl just call the holiday Tost, its one of the two major religious holidays they (that being Mp3 and/or sparkists like them in general) celebrate, this one falling on the fall equinox usually (with the other on the spring)
