I'd rather not leave David Seymour at the top of my feed, so here are some far more delightful creatures that I've seen in our lovely little city of Ōtautahi this year.

Common garden katydid, Caedicia simplex, with spermatophore attached

Here's something you don't see every day. An entire school classroom on the back of a truck, waiting to be moved to a new location. The ultimate in recycling!

Have you heard the news? That's right - #teamtuataratick ✅ are standing for #bugoftheyear2024 - small, but mite-y competitors in the race to buggy glory 👑

Picture of a tuatara looking at the camera and saying "Have you heard the news bro?" A caption underneath reads "Tuatara Tick Bug of The Year 2024"

Three drinks, all the same cloudy pale yellow colour, arranged in a triangle on a wooden table. A pint of cider is on the left, a cocktail on the right, and a lemonade in the middle at the triangle's apex. A green basil leaf sits atop the cocktail.
