PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 6hLike imagine going on twitter acting like this is your Scrooge redemption moment when people know you sent pregnant mothers to jail in front of their toddlers for being late paying a $50 medical bill. There's no putting that cat back in the bag you dumb, evil bastard lol 020
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 6hPaying that $700 cookie bill six years late only because you had your arm twisted as a last ditch scrap of grace won't save you from the fires of hell senator! 130
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 6hSo this is only about 12% interest for a bill that he stiffed for six years (and is only paying now because the midterms have these ghouls in a scrambling panic), while he charged his OBGYN patients 18% and had them arrested for bills worth less than a quarter of what he owed that bakery lol 110
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 8hMaybe because they needed something else as a binding agent because they couldn't use eggs? The flavor was good otherwise though, though I'd venture to say the frosting was waaaay too sweet lol 010
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 8hLike it was definitely much more dense and thick than cake should be. Cake should be fluffy and moist, and while this was moist enough, the density and glutenous quality was definitely more like cutting into something like a muffin. I wonder why 110
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 8hTried vegan birthday cake for the first time Not bad actually? I feel like vegan alternatives have come a really long way, though I admit the cake part kinda tasted/felt more like eating a muffin? 150

PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 10hI've been following comics for years and one page a week is plenty lol. I don't expect people to break their bodies for comics, and hoo boy is comics *riddled* with broken bodies and people who died young 030
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 10hLike if you don't have an actual deadline to meet that is paying your bills, holding yourself to industry standards just for the sake of...what...personal discipline? Is silly and will just make you sick if you don't find the work fulfilling 140
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 10hAnd uh, also maybe don't follow industry standards unless you are actually *in the industry* and do it as a day job, because even one page a day is ludicrous if you're doing comics as a side hustle/hobby 190
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 11hI feel like this phenomenon is particularly bad when you have a day job that burns you out and makes you feel like you need brain shut-off time to recover, and then you recover enough drive to actually Do Something just in time to go back to fucking work and do the whole cycle again 💀 270

PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 15hOh yeah, I just thought the whole "wehhh you like SEPHIROTH" angle so bafflingly funny I couldn't help myself lol, on what planet outside a gradeschool playground is that considered an own? 120
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 16h"She", dickhead. Not "they" Also I don't have to define "unnecessarily argumentative", all I have to do is point upward at all your replies where you're being a pedantic asshole. If you have no respect for what she was saying, why should we care about what you're saying? 010
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 16h"You being a fan of a videogame villain I personally think is overrated means you're wrong about me being unnecessarily argumentative in a casual discussion, gotcha" lol go take a shower 220
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 16hWell you got the "failed intellectual" part of your bio right at least lol First, one glance at her bio tells you she's not a "sir", second the FF7 remake has ensured that Sephiroth is SUPER popular in 2026. If you haven't noticed that, you live under a rock. What a weirdly petty thing to fixate on 120
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 16hAlso is it true that they tone down the mom a *lot*? I know they added narration to specifically frame her to also be some kind of a victim which is already like......aaaaaaAAAA 150
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 18hWhich is what's making Flanagan go "hmmm this feels like it'll be hard for the audience to stay sympathetic toward her..." Yeah no shit you stupid bastard, you gutted all the things about Carrie that made it Carrie lmao, of course the end no longer makes sense! She's an OC now! 000
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 18hThat upbringing and everything else is what leads her to snap. Without that foundation, you have this otherwise Normal kid who got kinda bullied (he removed that period scene btw!), had a humiliating prom, and turned into a mass murderer about it 110
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 18hBecause yeah of course you're gonna paint yourself into a corner with the way Carrie ends if you spent the whole beginning selling an innocent baby angel just curious about the world. Rather than how she *actually* was in the story, which is a terrified abuse victim with a fundie upbringing 120
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 18hI've noticed that a *lot* of people are saying the same thing, where Midnight Mass was the only good Flanagan thing whereas everything since then has been a strikeout. And everybody who's watching this show who understands the themes of Carrie are baffled by the changes 200
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 10/10/2026My nails are actually kinda fragile, but that's mostly because of the amount I have to wash my hands (which is also why I don't do polish anymore lol), so I just keep them clipped super short now. But cured gels are so thick and so resistant to removal that they can cause fungus growth 010
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Oh god yeah no the gels are not worth it. I tried the gels and they are a *massive* pain in the ass. Yes if they cure right they're a lot tougher than typical lacquers, which is great for no chipping...but you are stuck wearing that shit *forever*. It will not come off. It's awful for your nails 110
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Yeah good nail polish gets expensive! I had Opi lacquers in mine that go for $12 a bottle now. Definitely the sort of thing where you don't wanna just throw them away when you have a big collection but don't have the spoons to sort all of it and try to sell it (unless you just do lot sales I guess) 010
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 10/10/2026I actually used to use pinterest for references a lot before it started getting packed with garbage (both interface-wise and AI), and this actually makes it usable for that again 030
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 10/10/2026You can also exclude AI-labeled results btw. I've never bookmarked something so fast lol 140
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 10/10/2026I once had a huge nail polish collection that I got rid of some time ago because my job makes wearing it basically impossible, and yeah I feel this lol Like I had shoe boxes full of them and after a certain point there could've been anything else floating around in there and I didn't care 120
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 10/10/2026I mean now that I know it's him narrating I can't unhear it lol, but while I was watching it I couldn't quite put my finger on who it was because he's using a more soothing, storytelling kind of voice when I'm more used to hearing his President Voice 040
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 10/10/2026[watching a nature documentary] Hm, why does the voice sound so weirdly familiar...? [looks it up] OBAMA??? 160
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 10/10/2026But of course the problem with "fixing" all of the problems with Carrie ("what if she wasn't a weird frigid fundie kid, what if her mom wasn't an abusive zealot and was just overbearing and misunderstood?") and making her this cutesy outgoing girl guts the entire point of the story. It's stupid 0181
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Like, the more I side-eye the kind of language this guy uses and the specific changes he's making, the more I'm coming around to this same conclusion if I'm being frank. Like it's hacky writing but also on some level the "fixes" he's attempting feel weirdly intentional 1191
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 10/10/2026The answer to this riddle was already laid out for you when Carrie's character was written the way it was in the first place--yeah, you can easily see the trajectory of her character arc from the beginning to the end, vs "sweet little angel who loved everyone and then had a berserk button moment" 010
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Yeah this is the most baffling part lol, like if you take it as him being like "oh whoops we painted ourselves into a corner by making Carrie *too* cute and sweet and now it feels weird to make her a vengeful indiscriminate murderer" and you wanna be like...the book was written for you already dude 220
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 10/10/2026It's also forcing you to grapple with the feelings that maybe you *do* think she deserved the bullying, deep down, that maybe you would also shun her if you were at that school, and that makes people feel yucky-icky-- oh nooo can't have audiences getting introspective! 130
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 10/10/2026Like, it's been mentioned already that even the 70s film downplayed the fact that in the book, Carrie was also a weird fundie like her mother, and that's part of what made her so offputting to the other students. And yeah that's the point--not just the revenge story 120
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 10/10/2026You can almost smell the "but if we make her do too many bad things in the end the audience might think she isn't a perfect victim anymore and that she deserved it" fumes coming off what Flanagan is saying here 120
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 09/10/2026I know this widely famous and loved horror story has been around since the 70s and everybody knows all the beats of it, but what if audiences suddenly memory-holed that Carrie wasn't a Perfect Victim?? 100
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Holy shit they scaled him correctly compared to the other primarchs too--he's 8.19 inches tall at the head, which is fucking *huge* (I have Guilliman, who's 7 inches at the head--this puts Vulkan at an entire head taller than him) 020
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Vulkan ended up being one of the few joytoy primarchs with a stock head sculpt that isn't atrocious, thank you 40k jesus 😩🙏 120
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 09/10/2026To be honest I think what he says in the screenshot tells me it's 95% Flanagan not understanding Carrie's character or motives. And maybe 5% being squeamish about throwing an audience a curveball even though this story has already been popular since the 70s 100
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 09/10/2026"We have to downplay the religious abuse and Carrie killing people who didn't necessarily deserve it because it's Too Topical", and meanwhile this basically just lobotomizes the story and doesn't even make it feel like horror anymore at this point. Why even remake it at all? 010
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Because it's exactly the kind of superficial writing tourism I'd expect from people who do most modern remakes anymore, outside of maybe Guillermo del Toro who at least *understands* the context of the source material he's depicting and the actual themes coming across, not the literal parallels 120
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 09/10/2026I'm not saying that the school shooter comparison is coherent or even founded in sound logic (it isn't lol), just that I've seen people theorize that might be why guys like Flanagan are trying to downplay Carrie violently getting revenge in a school setting. It's just dumb enough to be plausible 210

PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 09/10/2026And some people are saying it might be because school shootings are more common now than they used to be, but imo that makes a story like Carrie something that people should be exposed to *more*, not less. These aren't themes that should just be swept under a rug 121
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Literally any person who's ever been bullied as a kid relates to Carrie, even when she goes full blown monster at the end and kills everybody. Who hasn't entertained that fantasy of "aren't you tired of being nice? don't you just wanna go ape shitt??" when everyone keeps kicking you? 140
PT @bug-fkr.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Meanwhile I'm like. You can have a character who is a complete asshole be interesting if you actually give a shit about the story you're telling and have coherent themes going on. Thinking good writing means your protagonists are always morally upright heroes is coward shit 260
