There was an ant in my hair. The kitchen is now just ant-out. The floors and some of the counter tops. Sprinklings of ant carcasses about. These creatures can stay on the “out” of the house

Today in musings without data: - AI feels like the first system designed for a neurodiverse brain - ND folks are more likely to question the ethics of AI RN: Trying to describe how I use AI with high efficiency basically “I can’t give you ADHD, like you can’t make me NT” is all I got 🤦🏻‍♀️🫠

In many cases, we'd prefer not to know.
A guy standing on a ladder in his front yard. He is holding a cup of coffee and waving to a passing neighbor. A tree in the front yard is standing next to the man and also drinking a cup of coffee. The cup says Handsome Ron lives here. The text reads: What you do on a ladder in the summer. That’s none of our business! We’re not here to tell you where to drink your coffee. We’re here to tell you to set your ladder up on a firm, flat surface and to make sure you have a spotter.

I don't recall any previous transformative technologies that had to be sold to the public so hard. No one in 1999 was going, "Guys. Cell phone? It's coming, whether we like it or not. I think it's important, FOR WOMEN ESPECIALLY, to learn about cell phone. So that we're not left behind!!"

Intro to observational astronomy: the only intro course I’ve taken that’s a 4000-level course. The math isn’t hard, but it’s a course in how physics will tell you to fuck off at every opportunity. I made a diagram to help me understand sources of pain. #astrosky #astrophysics #study #physics #ouch
A whiteboard diagram of many things that go wrong when trying to image a star. On the left hand side, there is a column starting with the title “Get Fucked!” And details a few challenges such as distance, wave-particle duality, SNR ratios and the speed of light changes in a medium. On the main section there is an orange line going diagonally from a star at the top left corner, through the centre with a crude telescope drawing saying “starlight bucket contraption” and then to the bottom right with a square and a scribble and the caption “WTF is this??” - along the path there are statements or questions in green about how one might try to image a star, and then blue saying how this goes wrong. Then off the blue there are correction ideas and then more blue saying how this also goes wrong

In a compulsory research class I stood before undergrads who clearly didn't want to be there, nor saw the need for it. I began class by asking them to imagine that the next professional they sought help from didn't think researching best practice really mattered. They got my point.

My kid will watch Minecraft videos in any language because he doesn’t care about the words. W/E, hearing the cadence of language helps passively gain intuition for language, and I can study. Except today he found a French video & I’m bilingual. I’m now learning vocab instead of CCDs 😭🤦🏻‍♀️

I've been working on a side project (beyond going to uni) around #cybersecurity advice that takes the idea of debugging security with a teddy bear to a more literal level. The duck is the homage to the rubber ducky programming where you literally tell the duck how the software works to debug it.
"For the love of security and teddy bears... please patch before the CVE drops. Buddy Bear SECURITY"

A cute, smiling, brown teddy bear wrapped in a blanket and a warm cup of hot chocolate on the floor in front of a green laptop on a green pillow looking towards the viewer. A small plant on the left, and a small light, book, and duck on the right. The words are below, with "Buddy Bear SECURITY" in a banner. The banner has the bear's head on the left, and a padlock on the right.

A couch with various art and paper craft supplies. There is a watercolour paint pallet, ZIG Clean Dot pens, a ruler, a white bin full of stamps and stamp pads, watercolour pens, a swan sticky note set, a stencil set, and a container of fountain pen cartridges and a fountain pen.An open watercolour paper book with many colourful flower stamps, cat stamps, and weather stamps have been placed. Two watercolour pages with cartoons. One page is of a frog on a seat with a briefcase and the sign “me on my way to make things worse” the second page had four areas of drawings. Top right has a raccoon with “don’t be a part of the problem - be the whole problem.” On the bottom left, there are six small frogs with FERG, FORG, FIRG, FURG and FARG. Teddy is ready for his last semester of undergrad! Happy first day of school! 🥳
A picture of a bear in the pocket of a tote bag on a desk. The bear’s head, arms, and part of his body is sticking out. He has a brown body, white belly area and mouth/nose area, yellow inner ears and black eyes, nose and mouth. The bag is light pink. The desk is wooden with frosted glass dividers. There’s a sign saying “quiet please! This is a non-taking floor” signifying it’s a quiet study area of a university library. It has been graffiti’d with cute space people.
