@msignorile.bsky.social my great-grandmother back in 1922 married a Catholic. She converted. Her father and brothers were in the local chapter of the Ku Klux Klan. They burned a cross on her front lawn for doing that. She became a hardcore Republican for the next 74 years when she died in 1996.
