My brother coined two important terms: Tropical fruits is the term for when an adult is carrying a child on their back and the child plays the top of their head like a bongo Rub your belly, to(o?) many pieces was a nonsense chat one would do while rubbing their belly for attention.

Agree, it hurts everyone which is why trade wars are so silly (except as a way to hurt countries like Russia).

Walmart might choose to source from a more expensive country if it is cheaper than paying the tariff. It’s different for manufactured goods like from China because no one else is supplying it, and if so still cheaper to pay the tariff.

At least the location I volunteered at near OSU campus probably bought 50-75% of their food. There are others that sort through donated food but it takes so much time and is so heavily dependent on volunteers.

This place (I think Fresh Box, local to Cbus) who helped felons get their life back on track had great boxed lunches. Not a vegetarian but they always had a pesto caprese ciabatta which I always partook in. Think they are closed now :(

Random samples never happen in polling research because of response bias, so they match the sample to the population. I don't know what you are arguing though, if you are saying on its face the poll makes sense given the MOE. Arguing abt pollsters makes you sound like a 2020 election denier, fyi.

You clearly know nothing about statistics. Feel free to play around! You need a very small representative sample to get a 95% confidence level with low MOE. goodcalculators.com/margin-of-er...

This is how polling and survey research works. Error rates can work in both directions too, FYI.

You can cite a source where he says he is going to increase the price of fentanyl by assessing tariffs. Until then I was just fact checking you. Trump is a moron, there is plenty to hate without making stuff up.

Trump truth social post Donald J. Trump & @realDonald Trump
As everyone is aware, thousands of people are pouring through Mexico and Canada, bringing Crime and Drugs at levels never seen before. Right now a Caravan coming from Mexico, composed of thousands of people, seems to be unstoppable in its quest to come through our currently Open Border. On January 20th, as one of my many first Executive Orders, I will sign all necessary documents to charge Mexico and Canada a 25% Tariff on ALL products coming into the United States, and its ridiculous Open Borders. This Tariff will remain in effect until such time as Drugs, in particular Fentanyl, and all Illegal Aliens stop this Invasion of our Country! Both Mexico and Canada have the absolute right and power to easily solve this long simmering problem. We hereby demand that they use this power, and until such time that they do, it is time for them to pay a very big price!

I mean I don’t think it makes any sense but he wasn’t implying people were going to declare illegal substances and pay tariffs on them.

It's not amazing but the MARTA train can get you pretty close depending on where you're going. When visiting family we started taking it so family could avoid driving on the messy interstates to pick us up from ATL.

I think acast is really bad at identifying listeners for ads (though I did get one for the local community college on a history pod!) but for the hosts it's probably an easier way to make a few bucks than develop an actual marketing department.

Need a longread to occupy you this weekend? Feeling a little too good? I have just the lovely but sobering essay for you! newrepublic.com/article/1753...
No harm at this scale is equally distributed, a point that van der Kolk was surely weighing when he discounted the idea of collective trauma. Poor people, people of color, queer people, single people, disabled people, and the very young and the very old bore (and will always bear) a disproportionate share of the pain that wracks us.
These are traumas at the individual level in numbers so large that they demand national attention because there are national consequences—think of the nationwide therapist shortage and “the Great Resignation.”
So, what if the reason so many people identify as trauma survivors is that they are? What if the horrors of the last seven years do translate into a nation that is suffering more than mere political dysfunction? What if the polarization, paranoia, conspiracism, and hopelessness that bog us down have a more holistic origin than structural malfunctions or individual malfeasance? What if our entire national character is a trauma response?
