Father and husband. 🇬🇧🇨🇦 Probably called grumpy by most, but deep down quite light hearted. Many trips around the sun, most of it on the bike.

Now that autumn has settled in, this is how we roll. By that I mean our two fooking cats asleep while I’m making dinner. (Look closely)

Added that to my collection earlier in the year (having the first three from their original release dates). I agree, this is a great album. Our Canadian pressings have really good mastering, at least to my ears.

Happy to fess that at the height of his popularity I could not find anything funny in his act. Thought my sense of humour had gone off…and maybe it has but at least my judgement hasn’t.

Distraction project complete. A simple enough build compared to what I usually build. Intended as product photos for a friend’s business producing these kits I was starting to doubt my airbrush abilities, turns out my airbrush was slowly degrading due to build up in a recess. Phew. #modeltrains

oh for fucks sake. Absolute fcking weakness. In my job and role I have little choice but to be engaged with AI (for the record we're using AI to lift 'n shift our own intellectual property), but I'll be fckd if we start calling it SI.

Great album. Original vinyl is mastered so well. In my view this record is a "we're breaking" up album between Hodgson and Davies.

I’ve had a couple of projects become the receiving end of destruction. I have a healthy paranoia. When I hang up my readers on a peg on the peg board, I always make sure it’s not above some work in progress. Because, yeah, they would fall of the peg, wouldn’t they…

My daughter: burn the hedge down. This time of year I’m the “web-sweeper” for her; clearing webs and spiders across the path to our front gate.

Tale of two orchestras. Picked up over the weekend from a seller at a local show (Vancouver) So, Mahavishnu I discovered recently going down a rabbit hole following Jan Hammer. I was 7 when this was released! What a gem! ELO, this record my parents had and somehow it became my soundtrack, age 11.
Two vinyl records.
Mahavishnu Orchestra - Birds of Fire
and
Electric Light Orchestra- Out of the Blue

Birds of Fire is a quadrophonic mastered record and is very listenable on stereophonic. Amazing jazz fusion with prog and a hint of funk.

The paint I'm using is Tru-color, something I used many years ago on another KSD project. Acetone based, I forgot how bad this can smell. Given my household and the complaints on paint smells, guess who ordered a portable spray booth with extractor fan?

Next distraction project. A boxcar build for my mate's business (Kaslo Shops Distributing). Already started, some scratch building needing, primed and ready for painting of the box itself. This will be a Canadian Pacific grain box car. And I've learned a few things on that subject!

I was surprised. In cast resin, depending on climate, maybe some air bubbles. It would be a combination of the designer in CAD, how the files are rendered into a printable format, and the 3D printer itself. Smaller pieces are great. For the photo here, I had to sand it, and then holes appeared.

SimonB. @buchanansj.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
While 3D printed resin will be the norm, it's not without faults. Doing a proof build for a friend's product, the part required sanding to hide the layering effect of the print (like a topography map). This revealed pock marks in the resin. Explained to me that pixels can be missing in the files.
