They're killing babies in the name of freedom, and we've been down that sorry road before, They let us hang around a little longer than they should have, and it's too late to fool us anymore. Today they hold the power, and the money, and the guns. It's getting hard to listen to their lies.

I’m not going to lie, tomorrow’s going to be a grind. But hey, as a medicinal cannabis patient, that’s no bad thing.

If you live in a country where your democratically elected leader can call for another nation to obliterate one of your cities, and you have no ability to remove that leader, then I’m sorry but your democracy isn’t worth shit, and you need to join one of those well regulated militias you talk about.

We’re just exiting winter here in Western Australia, but I heard this on a tv show, and it made me laugh: “Winter is the Justin Bieber of seasons - it was cute and kind of exciting when it started out, but now it’s a bit obnoxious and should probably just stay in Canada.” Here, bloody here! 😂

It occurs to me that “coontn thi fuckin metaphors” would make a fine title for a biography of Leonard, were one ever penned.

I was today years old when I learnt that the Vatican not only has its own football team, but recently established a women’s team into the bargain. God know why …

This fucked up world is making me feel more and more like Merlin in his late, crazed, forest-dwelling phase. Not only that, but I find myself envying him the solitude of his madness. I think I’m going to take a break from “social” media for a while. Stay safe.

I have to say, I enjoyed watching #TheWargame. The warning that it contained scenes which “some viewers might find distressing” hardly prepared me for people calling Michael Gove “Prime Minister” though. My take away is this though: who was the real enemy, Russia or its ally, the United States?

Right, with the #GrandFinal over, I think I’ll settle to a chunk of @garymcavoy.bsky.social’s “Pompeian Betrayal” for an hour, then back to the Militär-Schematismus des österreichischen Kaiserthumes for 1849 and 1850 respectively. Don’t tell me I don’t know how to party through a long weekend! 😂

My #GrandFinal long weekend really is shaping up rather nicely - I’ve @margaretweis.bsky.social and Tracy Hickman’s new #DragonLance volume, “War Wizard”; then I’ve @garymcavoy.bsky.social’s “Pompeian Betrayal; and I found wisdom in a bottle while doing a spot of shopping on my way home.

S11-Special - Sheffield, South Yorkshire #TimeTeam get stuck into some urban archeology, digging the foundations of Sheffield, once Britain’s “Steel City”. Tea (presumably a Yorkshire blend) makes an early appearance at 3m 38s, but beer has to wait until 47m 35s - with less than 2m on the clock.

Oooh. Good news. Apparently the new #DragonLance novel is waiting for me at home, so I’ll get to take a trip back to my teenage years this weekend. I do miss Raist’ and Caramon, but then, it was a simpler time, even for a scrawny, mildly academic teen.

A "joint police operation" involving all Australian state and territory forces is being hailed as a success in today's papers, in spite of netting only 74 plants & 13 kilograms of cannabis here in WA. For context, Australian authorities seized 10.8 TONNES of cannabis in 2020-21. Armadale Examiner👇

In March of 1861, Austro-Hungarian Feldzeugmeister Ludwig Ritter von Benedek wrote, warning the members of his officer corp to beware of "international revolutionaries, lawyers and doctors without practices, [and] ambitious and money-hungry journalists”. Ach, du lieber Gott! He wasn’t wrong, was he?

To be fair, there *may* be alcohol in these polystyrene cups at the 23m 47s mark, but nothing indicates there is, so it hardly counts as evidence. All in all, Season Eleven of #TimeTeam has been pretty sub-par from an alcoholic perspective.

S11-Special - Loch Tay, Perthshire The #TimeTeam get lost and meet a bunch of folk digging up a wet patch of Scotland in search of a submerged crannog (which I’d suggest is basically a contradiction in terms). No one is carrying any drink though, so it’s a dry old 49m 1s episode we’re all in for.

The postie came through again this morning, and the first (postally delayed) volume of @morgandaimler.bsky.social’s “Tales of the Tuatha de Danann” was waiting for me when I got home, with all the patience and good cheer of the Dagda himself (the package, I mean, not me!) #BookSky

If you're based in WA, would you consider signing my petition? Basically, there's no discretion granted to the bench in drug trafficker cases, and no appeal process for family and dependents. They can seize everything you own, for a few plants, and they do. www.parliament.wa.gov.au/Parliament/L...

S11-Special - Ightam Mote Not a dig so much as a guided tour around one of the few remaining buildings in the UK to show signs from all the phases of its seven centuries, from the medieval onwards. And a dry tour until 48m 31s, when Tony (but no other #TimeTeam member) gets a posh drop of red.

The postie was good again today, delivering my copy of ‘Tales of the Tuatha de Danann’ by @morgandaimler.bsky.social. Of course, he had to deliver volume two ahead of volume one by a week, so this one may sit in the TBR for a while, beyond the sneak peak I intend to gift myself right now #BookSky

S11-Special - D-Day, Normandy Following the Dorsets’ attempts to capture Point 54, set back from the beaches of Normandy, this #TimeTeam special runs for 49m 10s, but the rum ration appears to have been misplaced; a squadie gets a glass of something at 47m 47s, but none of the diggers see a drop.

“She was pale – pale – like the flower in the blast! Her tears fell like the rain: there was no hall – no house, but the cold moss – the wet rock, and the fire, and the wind, and the water, around her!” "The White Lady", John Sobieski Stuart (1832); #SpookySunday.

S11E13 - Cranborne Chase, Dorset Chasing a Roman villa, the #TimeTeam find Iron Age and Bronze Age remains into the bargain, but no beer to wash any of it down with - just a disappointingly dry 47m 07s episode, with a lot of men lying down, and a noticeable surplus of chickens.

S11E12 - Roxburgh, Scots Marches Mick jalouses “we could be here for thirty years” as the #TimeTeam stert howkin for the auld, C12th burgh o Roxburgh. Gin sae, it’d be a thirty-year drouth, for there’s no a Scots pint, a tappit hen, nor even a mutchkin o ale in the hale scrotchin’ 46m 55s ploy.

S11E11 - Ipswich, Suffolk Back-garden archaeology is all well and good (in this instance, the #TimeTeam are in search of a Roman villa) but what about back-garden drinking? It was looking unlikely (and S11 has form in that regard), but we were saved by a couple of cans of Stella Artois at 32m 18s.

S11E10 - Nassington, Northamptonshire The #TimeTeam dig up the floor of a posh old biddy’s living room in search of King Cnut’s hall; a man makes awful noises with a series of reeds, and we finally get a drink at 46m 27s, with just 38 seconds left on the sundial.
